I've just scooped a G290 off ebay so going to dive in to some racing games.

I already have Dirt Rally and Project Cars 2. Looking forward to experiencing them with a wheel rather than a twitchy gamepad. Any others I should be trying?

Ac works OK if you use the addon manager thing and is cheap, acc is a good representation of the gt3 class.
Ac has all sorts, I appear to have all the dlc so not sure what comes as std
Supposedly loads of amazeball addons for ac, but I've struggled to find much

I think F1 may be beyond me, any racing game I've ever played, I've usually opted for the slower cars as F1 class is just too fast for my reaction times.

Do any of you use a gearstick? How weird is it reaching for it in VR when it may not be quite positioned in reality the same way it is in your headset visuals?

I found included cars and tracks not up to much tbh.

F1 22 is pretty good if your not to anal, good with a wheel too.

You do need all the DLC really, but it's probably the best racing game (all things considered) in VR. I have a soft spot for iRacing, but it's expensive with very long loading times so I tend not to use it much. If you want to run an entire season it goes well beyond £100.

AC is good, but you need to add on all the mods like reshade to make it look modern which then hits the fps very hard. Does look good though, in fact, with everything fired up to the max it probably looks the best.

I have a few AC clips here right at the end - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIIKPDkihRVmBTnLU_b-JAQ

Practically everything sim racing wise on the PC supports VR now. Any kind of sale on steam and you'll see the best titles at around £10 or under, making them a no brainer.

CarX Drift racing is the latest edition to the VR stable, lesser knowns like Richard Burns Rally and Live For Speed VR ready to go. Try Race Room for free.

Totally recommend Dirt Rally 2.0, even if you have the original. On sale the complete package is insane value, and hands down the most immersive of all VR racing experiences with a stick shift.

I've got a shifter with my G920, mounted on a Playseat Challenge with a special mount from an auction site.

To be honest I don't use it that often as the feel isn't great - very plasticy, and even with a clutch pedal it doesn't feel that realistic.

AC is great, must have mods are CSP (graphics and physics update) and SOL (weather update). It's easily the most moddable ie would you like to drive a particular car not typically found in sims? Chances are someone has created it for AC, although the quality of mods varies. You can also (with track mods) drive on realistic looking normal roads with 2 way traffic. Most popular online driving sim too afaik. Use Content Manager for AC, it's an alternative (and much better) user interface for the game. Other than that, AMS2 and PC2 are good. ACC is good if you like GT3.

Agree with AC with mods being top notch. Been playing it a lot lately.
Any idea if there’s a mod to manually adjust seat/camera in VR. Have buttons on wheel mapped to view left/right to centre view but be nice if can vary it about

Currently I would say
1. Assetto Corsa (with mods)
2. Dirt Rally 2.0
3. ACC
4. AMS2

AMS2 at 4. for me coz car and track selection a bit unconventional.

Paid for year subscription of iRacing that’s just ran out but you still have to buy new track every week if doing league stuff. Just wasn’t getting monies worth and is really for proper hard core sim heads who like to spend hours driving round same track trying to shave off 0.1 second

PC2 and AMS2 work great with VR. They both offer gaze control where you can simply look at things to select them.

IRacing works well-enough with VR. It doesn't have gaze control, but it allows you to map a bunch of commonly used functions to buttons on your wheel such as recentering your HMD view etc.

ACC and AC were a PITA last time I tried, RFactor 2 felt like I needed to learn how to code to get it to work.

I get the impression that the madness engine loves VR users, iRacing tolerates us, and all the other sims want us to just go away.

What issues were you having? I've been running both for years with no probs.
ACC is just a pig to run, though it shouldn't be an issue with the PCs in your sig.

Putting on my headset and sitting below the garage floor with no obvious way to recenter my headset most recently. The first time I installed the game it was just hard on the hardware and all the cars wanted to go straight. -Toyota Corollas with traction control on turn better than those GT3 cars did.

The old AC requires two people to start driving. Me with my headset on and ready to go, and someone else with a mouse and keyboard at the desk behind my rig actually clicking the drive button or whateve the start selection is.
