And SallyB was waiting to take off shortly after '558 paid her visit.

Saw this when I was at Cholmondely (and was the primary reason me and my parents went this year).

Awe inspiring look and sound. I'll never see anything quite like it again.

Heard but didn't see it at the Yeovilton event :S - kicking myself now as I was still waking up as it went over and didn't connect the dots until too late.

Was kind of amusing - had forgotten the airshow was on - went to the backdoor still half asleep and there was a roar and 3 red arrows in my face literately almost close enough to see the pilot's eyes - for a moment I had no idea what was going on my brain just wasn't expecting it.

I head down to RIAT on Wednesday and am looking forward to getting up close and personal with her! I'm working it so should get to see arrival, all displays and then departure.

Arriving at Yeovilton:

That was a good day, the Vulcan and Chinook display were the highlight for me. I also thought the French Navy (Mirage + Super Etendard) and Typhoon were pretty good. Those spitfires were quite overshadowed whilst everyone watched the Vulcan taxi in. Got a good shot of the Vulcan at its stand with two spitfires crossing behind.

Just watched the video of the v-jet fly past - something quite special about it kicking myself I didn't make an effort to go.

Glorious and majestic aircraft, I love it! I'm glad I got to see it last year at Duxford airshow plus I made the trip down on it's tour weekend to stand by the road and watch her pass. Shame they don't allow the engines to open up properly as the noise cannot be beaten.

Fascinating to read into the operation of these aircraft, the fact that during the cold war there was always a few of them sitting at the end of a runway engines running ready to deploy at short notice, with the pilots well aware the fact that if they returned (unlikely) they would not be returning to a recognisable Britain. Also when flying they were briefed to fly with an eye patch, as the brightness of a nuclear explosion was so intense it was likely they would loose site out of their uncovered eye, and therefore they could use the other to fly home.

Remarkable aircraft and crew, just thankfully the cold war remained cold!

Those engines..!

Please excuse the naff video on this one, it is all about the Vulcan wail!

Such a shame they haven't been able to go full throttle for years, to save the airframe.

I'm not the best photographer, but heres a couple from RIAT today, taken from Totterdown Farm P&V. :)

Love seeing the Vulcan fly, she will be missed.

That take off was superb, exceptional roll rate for such a large bird! Gutted I missed RIAT this year :(

Had some incredible luck yesterday, took my nephew to a place called Brockholes which is a nature reserve. Wasn't expecting it, within 30 seconds of getting out of the car and the Vulcan flew over, was awesome to see :)

Saw her fly over yesterday on the Northern route. Not far out of Whitchurch, absolutely fantastic to see so many people parked up along the roads to catch a glimpse of her fly past.

I'd absolutely love to be in Bristol today watching her fly from Bristol Airport over the Severn then onto Filton!
