I like them very much, bit pricey if you compare it to the Leon though.
Cancelled out by the fact the Leon is an absolutely godawful looking car

Done on purpose of course.[TW]Fox;12544524 said:Cancelled out by the fact the Leon is an absolutely godawful looking car![]()
The engine isn't a detunned ed30, even although it's rated the same as the golfs 197bhp engine it's a totally new design for better performance, emissions, fuel consumption etc . It will replace the "old" engine in all the vag cars by the end of the year. Evo did a road test and it was clocking 60 over a second faster than vws figures at 6.2 and hitting 100 in the 15s. So I suspect it's running more than 197bhp
I like the look but no idea what it is like on the inside or how it drives. I wonder if VW have stepped out the 80s for interior design yet.
The engine isnt a totally new designed one, its the same one used on the GTI. The reason why the emission and fuel consumption lower is because Audi has recently improved their entire engine lineup by fitting more efficient fuel pumps and reducing friction when introducing their facelift A3 range and the 2.0T is sourced from Audi afaik.
The 'new' 2.0T is only available on the A4 and A5 atm and it uses variable valve lift, it chucks out 211hp/350Nm of power, is hell of a lot more fuel efficient than the current 2.0T and its only in a VED band D.
Audi said:The 1.8T FSI and the technically closely related 2.0T FSI have been frictionally optimised and have new cylinder bores, pistons and oil pumps to increase efficiency.
No it isnt, it has different piston aka reduced friction parts and new fuel pumps like I said and all the Audi TFSI engines are now chain driven since months ago. If you look at the stats sheet, the power and torque are identical to the current 2.0T offered from the the A3 line up.
From http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/about_audi_ag/news/The_new_generation_Audi_A3.html
The current 2.0T block in the A3 and the Scirocco produces identical power 200PS/280Nm with Co2 and combined fuel cycle of ~170g/km/39mpg.
The new 2.0T used on A4/A5 has a 211PS/350NM output and a Co2/combine cycle of ~150g/km/43mpg on a heavier car.
The new engine might make it into the new Golf lineup later but its most certainly isnt the engine in the Scirocco, everything on the press release and stat sheets points to the fact it uses the current 2.0T engine
