VX Rearended - Maybe written off

What a pillock though. I hope you gave him an earful!

Nah, accidents happen, he was apologetic. The roads were greasy following rain and he had his wife and two small children in the car with him, I'm not angry at him at all.

holy moly, written off at 25mph:(

Loads of cars get written of after 25mph collisions. Depending on the car and where it is hit there is often enough energy to cause structural damage at that speed, and even if the structure is sound, the cost of parts and labour when a garage is billing an insurance company can write off a car that only has relatively minor damage.

**** happens dude, i been on both sides of the coin here and none is a pleasant experience, theres no point getting wound up about.

With smack like this its better that the car gets written off, as once its repaired it will never 'feel' right.

Good for you. No-one seriously hurt and the car is replaceable/fixable. Not sure I would want it being fixed by a Vauxhall dealer though, unless there is one that specialises in the VX. Not quite the same as screwing a Corsa back together...

If it needed repairs it would go to TMS/Plans/Horizon/Sinclaires nowhere near any Vauxhall dealers!

Really sorry to see that have happened mate :(

Again, lovely attitude to have, hope you get all the best in getting it resolved, as much as the car is lovely, main thing is all humans involved are ok as i hear they can be a bit pricier to repair!

Seriously though, best of luck with it all.

Just to echo the others on here, great attitude.

When I was rear ended a couple of months back I jumped out of the car and I think the guy thought I was going to lamp him. Looked quite shocked when I asked if he was OK :o

Really hope everythings sorted out for you as hassel free as possible. At least there shouldn't be any problems with liability as its quite a cut and dried- couldn't stop in time type shunt.

Good attitude. I don't know how you stay so calm. You were the same when it got keyed as well :o

Really hope the insurance co's don't give you a hard time! Definately push for another VX or an Elise or something as a hire car.

At least they were quick about it. Your'll feel the pain in your neck tommorow, maybe put something on it now.

25mph is quite high for a final impact speed, did his car absorb a lot of damage too because yours does not look as bad as I would expect considering.
Theres a fair difference in weight between the two cars?

I was off the brakes ready to move forward, his car wasn't that badly damaged to be honest, a couple of grand to fix, but nothing serious. The exhaust takes a lot of impact, which is not always a good thing...
