VX Rearended - Maybe written off

How on earth did you manage to stand there, swap details, etc etc and not realise he was driving a Renault?

He didn't hang around for long once we had swapped details and I was a little bit "fuzzy in the head" at that point. Any sprog-wagon is much the same to me anyway!

It's quite easy, to be in shock after an accident (i got hit sideways on my bike)... I'm struggling to remember what car hit into me, i can only remember the shape after all.. Although i can recall it had the shape of a golf.. :p only reason i remembered the paint colour was because it had transferred onto my backpack and the side pannel of my bike

The old man that hit me couldn't even understand what i was staying  i had to almost shout it to him in letter so he could write it down, he still said it wrong  i won't even go into how long it took to tell him my phone number :/ and i was the one that got flung across the road
silly old man shouldn't be driving.

Looking more likely to be a write off now, the rear subframe is bent which is an expensive bit to replace.

Off the top of my head:
Rear Light
Rear Clam + Painting
Rear Calm Trim
Rear Clam Mesh and heatshield
Scorpion Exhaust Back Box
ScorpionExhaust downpipe
Exhaust manifold?
Wishbones x 2?
Tie Rod
2 Tie Rod ends
Number Plate
Geo Setup
Rear Undertray
Main Undertray
Exhaust internal heat shieding
Rear Subframe
+ Labour
+ Hire Car charges

That's only the visible damage without taking bits off....

Perhaps buy it and break for spares if the purchase price is good enough.

Alternatively, get your pay out, if the price is right buy it back. Buy another VX and any stuff which is better on your car stick on the new VX then sell the rest of the parts.

Market value approx £12k+ and as I was hit my a third party I will be offered the salvage back @ approx 20% of the payout amount. Based on some rough sums I could repair it myself, have the whole car resprayed and have £5k left in the bank afterwards....

Maybe a bit less than that, with the right contacts for getting parts...
am i right in assuming that everything that's damaged will be replaced, and that nothing is straightened?
if that's so it'd go well when you come to sell it as technically it will be no different than any other VX (apart from a cat D mark on the HPI)

Yeah, is all hypothetical, but I can't do any more than that at the moment apart from twiddling my thumbs :p

Yes, that would be everything replaced with as new parts, nothing straightened.

Have spoken to Europa Consultants, they'll have an Elise S with me on tuesday, to be swapped for the Exige S once that becomes available, then hopefully a further swap to a Porsche Cayman S providing that is available.

I suppose you're glad you've had a prang now? :D
