Hiya,

Well been spending money I haven't got yet hehe but what are peoples thaughts on these two cars?

Are they practical as "my only car" kinda car.

Also, what other suggestions do people have? Doesn't have to be a soft top, but I don't want a tank. As you can tell I don't know much about cars :)

If you havent had a 'performance' car before the s2000 will kill you when vtec kicks in, the vx220 will just kill you.

I'd love one of these cars though...vroom vroom :D

As for 'only car you have' it depends what you do daily, if you play golf etc then no, as you would have to put the clubs in the passanger seat. HOWEVER if you don't do many miles or carry many people then they are a lot of fun.

Dare I ask how old you are. Im guessing sub 25. If this is the case you're going to stuggle for insurance, sub 21 and you might as well push the 18 months for another 3 to 4 years.

edit, profile says 26. Ignore me then

VX220 Insurance is cheap once you hit 21. S2000 insurance is a million pounds though.

I found the VX220 Turbo more expensive to insure than an S2000 at 21 :) I think i was paying around £900 fully comp with admiral (4 yrs ncb)

Im so bitter about that car i cant evan bring myself to talk about the experiance ;)

Yeh I type like an idiot on the forums! I have a Fiesta ST atm which I bought new in 05. My insurance is reasonable now! I will be 27/28 when I will want a new car. I already have the full 5 years NCB, had it since I was 23 I think.

I don't know much about cars, my old man tried to teach me stuff in my teens but I wasn't interested then. Am taking an interest now though and really like the VX220 and S2000. If I have read around correctly they are immensly fun to drive!

Sam what happened? I gotta know now!

I'd like to know what happened with your VX Sam too.

I only ask because the only reason I clicked on this thread is I've been researching the VX220 NA for the last month as I'd like to trade my current weekend car in for one. I remembered Sam had one and searched the forums on details, but couldnt actually find why you'd disliked your ownership of it so much.

I think it cost him a small fortune to run in the short time he had it and it was rather twitchy so he always had to be very cautious when driving and couldn't really enjoy it properly.

I'm 23 with 5 yrs NCB and pay £550 on my S2000.

I use it as a daily driver.

Obvious "practicality" points are:

2 seater

Not exactly Stellar boot space, cabin storage space is small but more than enough for everything really.

If you want whisper quite refined motoring, don't bother. It's not terrible but the odd rattle here and there should not shock you. Most can be eliminated/minimised but keep it in mind.

As for plus points well, where to start? Best Manual Box I have ever used, ear to ear grin factor, never fails to make me feel giddy every day I get in it and drive it. Mechanically solid and the ongoing servicing and maintenance costs will probably surprise you, very reasonable.

Fuel is fine if you want to eco it somewhere out of VTEC, not terribly bad if you are hooning it either - I have a fuel card so my fuel usage does not bother me in the slightest.

Very very livable day to day, will not cost you the earth to run and is a great drive. You will, without fail, look back at it when you walk away from parking it up. I do :D

I see VXs drive past me and every time I think "Glad I got the S2000" Even from a looks perspective for me the S2000 is just great, there is not one single little thing on it that I can fault and look at and think "I want to change that"
