I will not go near meta (quest oculus) what ever they call themselves again. Oculus sold us out when they sold it to facebook in my opinion. Any way moving on lol. Should i wait to see what is out next year or go for pico 4. I was going to buy it at end of this month (next week). I no there is always something better round the corner coming out but how long will that be be for the pico 5 etc.

Pico 4 is a significantly better headset from a hardware perspective imo but in the software library it currently takes an absolute kicking…

If only intending to use it for PCVR then it’s generally a better choice, but I’d caution that it is a performance hog in MSFS due to pico not having a native OpenXR runtime and piggybacking through steam. At the same resolution/settings I hit about 20-30% performance loss vs the G2 running native OpenXR.

I haven’t tried the quest 2 with MSFS but one assumes if using their own airlink/link (not virtual desktop as that is steam dependent) it can go via the oculus OpenXR runtime and if so save you a fair bit of performance overhead.

Sorry, don't mean to sidetrack your thread, but every Oculus headset from the DK2 is a Facebook headset. The Rift Civ1, Facebook. The Rift S also Facebook. Facebook have owned Oculus since 2014. If you had a Rift S or Rift Civ1 some of the best PCVR games available were, yes you guessed it, Facebook games.

Back on topic, If you are only using the headset for Sit down, sim type games, then I would also consider the Reverb G2 or maybe the Pico Neo 3. Somebody who has both the Pico4 and Reverb G2 can comment on which is better in games like Elite Dangerous and FS2020.

At least it wasnt mandated sign in to facebook. I will be going for Pico 4 next week and comfort is a must. Thanks though :)

I've been pulling my hair out on what to buy for now until Deckard. Pico 4, Neo 3 Link, Quest Pro, HP Reverb G2. After much research, I decided to order a Quest Pro based on knowing it will just work out the box for PCVR.
Quest 3 is going to be a cut down version of the Quest Pro, and looking to release late 2023.

the pro is too expensive, but if you can afford it, then .....

otherwise id say Pico 4 or quest 2
TBH, I had the Quest 2 64GB, sold that just as the 128GB replaced it. So been without a HMD for a long time. It didn't make sense to buy a Quest 2 again.
Pico 4 just seemed like it has too many teething issues for PCVR right now.
As the Quest Pro was on another site with a interest free 12 monthly payment plan, it didn't feel so bad as spending some savings and dropping £1500 in one go.

ah , I see, being as you had a quest 2 and you wanted to get back into VR, then I think the Quest pro was the best choice, unless of course you can wait for the Q3
Yeah that's it really. Quest 3 is going to be a cut down of the Pro, and not due till late 2023. But by then we should have an idea when Deckard will be released.
