the morrisons where i live is pretty much the only big supermarket around for miles, and i hate it. morrisons is the worst supermarket imo. people say it's cheap but it's cheap for a reason...

anyway it's closing down in a week or so and being turned into a waitrose. i've never shopped at a waitrose so i was wondering if they are any good?

Waitrose is like Fortune and Mason compared to Morrisons.

If you have the money, waitrose is fantastic. For about a month when i was living in london i had a choice between Safeways or waitrose (this is in Holloway in London), I always chose waitrose. The staff were nicer (prob paid more), better food, and no queues !

You should've seen the waitrose nearest Reading Festival.

Queued for about 20 minutes just to get some bread and some spicey meat :o

excellent supermarket but you pay top dollar. Most people couldn't afford to shop there weekly. Need to find yourself a Sainsburys. I think there the perfect compromise between value and good produce.

Great place. Slightly expensive but it is a great working enviroment, and you feel better shopping there. It doesn't feel soo much like a chore.

waitrose is expensive? :(

Shopping at Waitrose is like shopping at M&S for food, if you go to one you'll find its filled with either young professionals, or older pensioners mostly. I'd say a £20 shop in Waitrose can be done for about £15/16 in Tesco.

couldn't agree more, but the nerest one is bloody miles away. the worst thing is that where i used to live there was a sainsburys and a morrisons within a hundred yards of each other, then the morrisons got turned into a sainsburys, so i ended up having TWO sainsburys, and now all i've had for the last six months is a morrisons. :/

Ye, one of the nicer supermarkets imo. I'd say its somewhere between sains/tescos and m&s.
Own brand food: M&S > Waitrose > Sainsburys > Tesco

Branded goods: Tesco > Sainsburys > Waitrose

Hereford must be the supermarket capital of England, we have 2 big Tesco, 1 Sainsbury, 1 Morrison all within 1 mile or so radius and now they are opening a new ASDA. the only thing missing is a Waitrose.
