Walthamstow crowd save cyclist by lifting double-decker Bus

4 times?? I cycled about 4k miles in London in my time and was only hit once, and I cycled pretty "enthusiastically". You must be unlucky and/or doing a lot of miles.

Live in a village and cycle country roads, I gave up counting the miles after 30'000.. countryside drivers tend to drive a lot faster than city/town foke.

Won't stop the cars from hitting you, but it lets you upload the clips to youtube. Not sure what purpose it serves.

Good way to boost your youtube channel and get subscribers. Make lots of money from those views and become one of those famous youtubers! :D

/also not srs

I do like watching some of those videos (not just cyclist ones, the car ones are alright to watch too). Just to see how other people ride and observe the dangers without putting myself out there.

Bit worried they were going to tip the bus tbh.

I'm fairly sure double deckers need to be tipped to some stupid angle before they will fall due to all the heavy stuff being down very low and nothing of substance making up the top deck.

I would be amazed if any number of people could topple one by lifting from one side.

Here we go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt_test_(vehicle_safety_test)

They clock in at something like 12 tons.

Yea, that'll save you. Make sure you ride particularly aggressively once you've got it to invite confrontation which you can then upload to Youtube.

Remember, enforcing your right of way on video is much better than being safe.

Clearly it is to better identify a dangerous driver to the police if that becomes necessary.

I found the up next video more interesting, with the title "London Standoff... Biker vs Bus and... the rest of the world...". I can't link to it due to the swearing.

Never cycled in a city, but being hit by a horse box spoils your day, that one hurt. Hate the way some motorist treat cyclists. Knocked off 4 times, clipped countless times.

Going to bring my bike up to London, that will be interesting.

The only time I ever felt safe riding a bike was when I lived in Holland, I would never even consider it here because the culture stinks compared to Holland where cyclists are respected. Additionally the cycle infrastructure over there was amazing and relaxing even in the city centers.
