**WANT 8GB 2400MHz FOR AS LITTLE AS £59.99 Inc. VAT? - THEN CHECK THIS THREAD OUT!!** (MV-3V4G3D/US)

Never seen RAM at these speeds before i dont think!
I thought the general concensus was that SB didnt benefit from more than 1600mhz?

Is this just for benchmarks/bragging rights i take it?

Mine is stable at 9-9-9-27 1N @1.35V (3930K), really nice memory. :)

Not sure if I want to push it any more than that I guess it'll be a case of diminishing returns.

Faster ram / lower timings definitely helps, it just depends on if its worth the cost.

24 Gb of Cas 9 1600 Mhz ram definitely did not perform close enough to what my 12 Gb Cas 6 1600 / Cas 7 1866 ram, my FPS dropped by up to 5 in metro benchmark, and for pure performance I went back to my faster 2 Gb sticks.

The difference however is so tiny that its never worth paying the extravagant costs on most high performance ram, but when I got my Geil Ultra 2 Gb modules they were cheap compared to other stuff, and I cant really complain about being able to reach up to 1900 Mhz on Cas 7, and I wont ever get much higher than that on X58 regardless of if the ram is capable (my sticks are rated for 2133 Mhz, but I cant even get 2000 Mhz working with 3 dimms installed due to X58 being too limited for ram clocks).

Not really, if I had a 5 Ghz I7 3930k and some equally uber high end graphics setup, why would I want to bottleneck that with only having 1600 Mhz cas 9 ram and mechanical hard drives?

2x8GB of these would be excellent. I really want 2x8GB dimms for my next build but the only option at present is the Corsair Vengeance.

My guess is that Gibbo will try to get something in for people buying Ivy Bridge.. if my memory (no pun intended) is right then there's usually new memory arrives at the same time as new boards/cpus.

This new Samsung memory might signal cheaper memory prices, I had a look across the water and it's available over there for 48 dollars for the 8GB set, although the US is on average cheaper than the UK that's a bit of a difference.

Available in the US are plenty of 16GB (2x8GB) kits, however the kit that OcUK have on sale is probably about as good a choice as you could get if you were forced to choose. There's cheaper kits but not by much, the only thing that'd really be a choice would be normal profile memory with CL9 - Crucial Ballistix Sport comes in a touch more expensive and fits that.

But fingers crossed Gibbo will decide now is the time to carry 2x8GB kits and we'll have lots to choose from.

I'm not suggesting it as a route, although even with import fees it would be cheaper here. Personally I have a place in the US so I can pick stuff up when I'm out there too..

What I am meaning is that if they're much cheaper now in the US then perhaps that will translate across the channel, it usually does.

it isnt cheaper, ive done it,ended up bout £3-£4 dearer, bought second kit from ocuk when they were reduced to £54

Hi there

Mental weekend only deal on this, if you don't have this memory - BUY IT NOW!

If you already have this memory, well - BUY MORE! :D

So I fell for all the hype and ordered 16GB of this, arriving tomorrow.

I'll be aiming for 2133MHz "just for fun" (max for Z68 mobo), but might settle for 1866MHz for a 24/7 OC (and be green with less power/heat). But I'd like to check the relative performance with my old RAM (1600MHz/C9 Vengeance) tonight, so what benchmarks(s) would you recommend? (Ideally a "pure" read/write bench + a decent "real-world" workload.)

Also, what's best for stability testing? I've used MemTest86+ before, but it requires burning a CD (which I've lost) or farting about with a USB stick, is there something similar that will run from Windows? This would mean the PC isn't tied-up for hours too.

Its free for the first 30 days:)

That might not be long enough!

This will be my first memory OC (unless you count clicking "Use XMP Profile" with my Vengeance), so it could take me a while - particularly as some people recommend 24+ hours for stability testing, and there's a LOT of options (1333/1600/1866/2133MHz, CL8/9/10/11, 1T/2T, sub-timings, Vdimm etc.).

What's best for a "quick" stability test? MemTest86+, SuperPi, Prime95 or just play a few games (my preferred option)?
