I received some sticks today to play around with. I purchased mainly for the greater capacity than present. However, I'm hoping for a greater frequency too! 9-9-9-27 @ 1866Mhz or 10-10-10-28 @ 2133Mhz at 1.4V would be great!
I tried 2133MHz @ 1.5v, I could boot into Windows but got some weird errors (NOD32 did not initialise, opening My Computer caused a Windows Error...) so I backed down to 1866MHz @ 1.45v. It could be because I'm using 16gb (4x4) or my poor mobo VRMs (GA-Z68X-UD3H, 7xVRM - 4xCPU, 1xIGP, 2xDIMM ie just one VRM per memory channel). Or maybe I need to tinker with Vtt/Vccio etc.
Either way, it was still cheaper than 1866-rated kits, lower power, and looks great against the black mobo (and doesn't interfere with the Hyper 212+), so it's still an (almost epic) win. Hopefully I'll have some time over the w/e to get 2133MHz stable (if my Z68 will cope) and give it full epic win status.
I bought four sets of two.
4x4gb with my 2600k as in signature 2133mhz 11-11-11-28(2T) 1.5V.
And
3x4gb with i7 920@ 4.0ghz 1600mhz 9-9-9-10-24 at 1.46v on ex58-UD5
For stock i7 920 I could go as high as 2128 10-10-10-28 1.5V but once clocked to 4.0 it is not stable anymore and I had to go down to 1600mhz.
What read/write figures did you get on x58? Use maxmem
At the moment 16gb for £83.99 is probably the best ram around, yes? I am probably going to buy some today and just wanted to double check - it will be for a new Ivy build.
