Want a bigger bike

Yeah, you'll have to go up to a litre bike to get reduced revs, the GSX-S1000 I rode at the weeekend apparently does 6k rpm at 85mph, so not that much less.

IL4's will be higher revving than a big v-twin too, the v-strom I rode was 4k rpm at 70mph, so probably 4500-5000rpm at 85mph.

Have you thought about riding a little slower on the A road? I presume it's a DC as you'd be hard pushed to sit at 85mph on a SC in rush hour traffic. Sitting at 70 mph vs 85 will make that 20 miles part of your journey a whole 3 minutes longer.

KTM Duke 125, 6th gear rpm? Hmm around 11-12k hahah :p

BTW Seriously, 85mph is my top speed on flat A road without wind. I had GPS speedo on my phone to confirm it was 85mph.

Ear plugs? Much cheaper.
Or just admit you want something new to play with and you're fishing for a reason :p

I just find it annoying for long distances, i have the baffle in, it's just the engine noise. 6K is fine but that 1k makes a big difference. Redline is 12k IIRC.

Just been looking at a few K1200s.... :p

As a commuting bike they're high on my list - shaft drive, loads of power and torque, yet 50mpg and a 200 mile tank range. Beemers can take a winter beating too.

I'd try and get one from a dealer with a years warranty though.

buy my zx10r for £3200 :p I need it out of the way

you only hit 4k at 85mph,

Would probably be a bit OTT for commuting and touring :p

Condition, mileage, age, pics?

Indeed!

I would part-ex my bike and cover the difference with a dealer and expect some warranty. Private would be a pain for me selling i think.

Double postage
I thought you got FREE postage with your kind of post count...? :p

How many RPMs are you doing in top gear at 85mph?..... on the autobahn obviously, officer.
I'd have to check... while slowing down to 85mph in the first place! :D

From top gear (5th), I'd guess somewhere between 4 and 6k.
I rarely take it over 5k anyway, as mine will pass 75mph just in 1st gear! At 70, I'm usually still in 3rd.

I'm going to test ride a V-Strom 650/1000 see if I'm liking the v-twin better (obviously 1000 would be better here, but they dont have on in for testing at the moment). Also going to test the 1250 version of the my bike which is about 4500rpm @ 85mph.... 7000rpm is 130mph :p

The new one or the old one? The old one's weren't brilliant, the new one however is pretty damn good. Bucketloads of torque, and 70mph was 4k rpm.
