I would try the head first books, they offer a free sample of a chapter or two I think to see if they sit well with you.
But if it's web dev you're interested in, definitely try the freecodecamp course. It covers front and back-end work.

If you want to get into development of any kind you're going to need to use Google A LOT!!

i took the free 1 month premium on linkeding, all lynda course free....also downloading them now
You can also get 3 to 6 months free on plurasight if you google it, you have to sign up for a MS visual studio account
Off the top of my head, I think it might be $29/month.
