Wardogs

I appreciate their humour towards the subject, but what is the anti-cheat situation? - I've avoided BF6 (and assume I can't play 2042 any more) because of javelin.
I'm planning to move away from Windows (at least as a primary OS), but if whatever anti-cheat they're using is Linux compatible I could be ok with it (and some are, even kernel level, as long as the devs support it)

From the devs:
We do not officially support Linux and we cannot commit to having support for launch. We are still working on Official Linux Proton compatibility.

This official stance has not changed since pre-release.

We admit there was a mistake in communication by our CM which was unfortunetly screenshotted in our Discord and then posted on the linux Reddit, when the official stance has always been 'we are working on proton compatibility'.

Any previous Alpha/Beta test where Linux worked was by happen stance, which led to some users discuss the game as being Linux compatible. However, as previously stated - we do not yet officially support Linux and we are still working on our proton support for WARDOGS. We will update our stance once we have this confirmed. That is our goal.

We cannot commit to having Linux support for our Early Access launch. So please, refund the game if you mistakenly bought it thinking you would be able to run Linux via Proton on September 10th. We hope to have you back as soon as we can confirm official compatibility.

Cheers! Wasn't sure if the post had gone through and thought I'd crashed the forums
Sounds like they're at least trying to find a way to do it, and given that I'll still probably have to dual boot for a couple of games I may be ok with that (i.e. kernel level not so bad, but my main objection is giving EA kernel access... would be the same for Ubi and other publishers)

Yea I think proton worked for me and Diablo 4 / Diablo mobile for the gf. Which required bluzzard authentication etc. Fingers crossed it works with the anti cheat for you Linux guys going forward

Little update from Discord for those that do not use it

Wanting to buy this but afraid it's gonna die off like most games I bought over the last few years helldivers, arc raiders etc
Those other games haven’t died off. Sure, player numbers have dropped off compared to launch but that’s always to be expected and I’m sure Wardogs won’t be any different. Even the devs expect that to be the case.

I suspect it will always have more players than BF6 (on PC at least). Very few games turn out to be fortnite or CS with hundreds of thousands of players every day for years. 5-10k would be enough, anyway, and the devs have said that.

Something wrong your end buddy - I can load either of those games up and be in a game in a matter of minutes.
Do they have the same numbers playing concurrently that they did when they released, absolutely not (arc has about a tenth now)……are they still populated enough to play games without issue, absolutely yes.

Helldivers still has loads of active players, I still play the game and nearly on 1000 hours. I still enjoy playing it with the new warbonds\weapons objectives etc that they add

Wardogs isn't mission/quest based. So games like arc raiders loose players as they get bored, as missions are basically rinse and repeat. Wardogs has one point get points and win. Build where you like etc. I think it has a good base to build.

Gosh, all this talk is making me want to play :D
I know what you mean.

I've posted a lot of updates from Discord and I don't even own the game. I did have access via the closed beta but I could not get on with it

Edit - I would like to add I was playing on my own and think games like this would be so much more fun in groups or large groups of friends with the amount of players per team

The hero we need but do not deserve. Are you going to try again (maybe later down the road) or is it simply not your type of game?

Edit in response to your edit: I have only played solo so far. I often don't have time to organise time to play with folks, so if a game isn't good enough solo, I am unlikely to get into it. This is perfectly fine for me. I just solo frag or join a big group of guys and hunt down the hot zone (whilst talking bs in proximity chat)

I am not too sure, Can always do the under 2 hours refund if still no joy. Wonder how much its come on since I last played.

I know what you mean, Sometimes I play early evening\early morning (6:30am ish before work) or during the day at weekends and a lot of people tend to play late evening due to working etc.
