Wardogs

That's good to hear, my specs are:

5800X3D / 4070 Ti Super / 32GB @ 1440P/ 165hz

Not expecting insane FPS but would be nice to hit a solid number close to my refresh rate.

I'll probably end up grabbing it this week - need something new to get stuck in to...
Should get decent frames but you won’t consistently hit near 165hz. On my
PC at 4K w/DLSS i go from 130-180fps depending on the area.

Just managed to squeeze a round in before work. Best round I've had yet. Team just gelled and worked together so well. Our Tower was a fortress. Kept pulling the zone to us with the drill. Occasional fighting patrol out to weed out the opposing raiding parties. I'm having so much fun with this!
Really need to figure out how to use the Mortars properly, the enemy were using them so accurately.

You were definitely not on the blue team by the sound of it :D

Ive unplugged my Hotas after giving it the weekend , nah its not doing it for me in this game.
Im much better using M & KB the way i have it setup now.

A and D for left/right YAW
Mouse move left/right for bank [cant remember proper word :P might be cyclic y]
Mouse forward/back for cyclic x axis [point nose up or down]
Then just space and left shift for collective[ throttle]

My muddled thoughts after having played about 30 hrs since launch ( I'm now lvl 40 something - mostly support & recon ).

1. The CZ is too small and makes 90% of the map redundant.
2. Progression is too slow at the moment. This becomes very noticeable once you rank up a role to rank 10+ ; the devs have implemented a "handicap" mechanic which slows down progress significantly every 10 lvls or so. Basically means that most players won't get anywhere near to unlocking all the various counters / gear etc before progress is wiped for a new season.
3. Communication systems need some work. There needs to be a global team voice chat to facilitate comms between squads ; proximity chat has limited use due to range and the fact that is an unsecure channel. There is text chat with a "team all" toggle, but this isn't convenient to use in the thick of the action on the frontlines. I think this "hole" in comms is contributing to a lack of co-operation in some matches.
4. Weapon imbalances. SMG's seem way overtuned at the moment - accuracy/range/damage all too high. Sniper rifles are undertuned ... can take 3-5 headshots to get a kill using a high lvl sniper rifle versus someone with T2 /3 armour.
5. Which brings me on to my next observation - the higher tier unlocks provide a massive advantage over a player who doesn't have the time to grind lvls all day long. Starter weapons / armour needs to be stronger, imo.
6. Fortified FOB's / camping ( "fobbits" :D ) seems to be the "meta" at the moment ... but if more players had access to higher tier equipment eg. armoured vehicles, tanks, artillery, C4 etc it wouldn't be an issue.
7. There have been several instances where I've unloaded several sniper rounds into a stationary player at close range and failed to hit or do any damage. Don't think they are cheating, seems to be a networking / hit registration problem.
8. Helis are making vehicles redundant for troop transportation and logistics. Now, piloting isn't easy ... but there always seem to be 2-3 players on each team who are ace pilots. In matches where air support dominates ( which is most ) it is nigh impossible to level up driving ... you can try doing supply runs but you'll find that most FOBs are constructed in a way that only allow airdrops. To unlock armoured vehicles, tanks etc you need to get driving up to rank 35.
9. For the love of god, disallow players switching teams mid-match. Some players abuse this to observe where opposition squads, fortified positions etc are on the map, and will sometimes sabotage bases eg. leaving a secure door open so an assualt team can get in.

Despite all these criticisms, I'm still having fun ... and it is an EA after all, so I'm sure the devs will tinker with balancing a lot between now and full launch.

There's always one guy without a parachute sat there whilst everyone else has jumped when you're getting nailed with AA and have a lock on tone on you too. "Get out!" :D
Parachuting is a death sentence unless you do it from low altitude ... too easy to get "marked" by recon and killed by snipers as you float down.

They aren't hard to use ... use your map to find "marked" targets from recon, or you can just "ping" a location on the map and mouse over it to find the range info. Use the A, D keys to rotate the mortar left/right and W,S to increase/decrease range. There is a RNG scale on the side ( can be hard to read sometimes depending on lighting ), just dial in the amount required. W,A,S,D keys give quicker, larger adjustments ... use the mouse to make small adjustments. Fire the weapon with mouse 1, it will then take you to a "shell cam" which allows you to see where you hit and can provide useful info for making further adjustments. If you want to exit the "shell cam" quickly to launch a salvo press "c" which also auto-reloads the mortar rounds ( can load up to 3 max ).

There’s calculators online for it, just plug in the co-ordinates and fire away!

I’ve been doing trial and error but after a few near misses people move by the time I hit

Should easily get near 165hz

Im on a 57003dx/32gig of ram/3060ti @1440p
Mix of low-medium mainly low and its 100fps+ most the time with DLSS

The game isnt a snappy cod style game so 100+ fps feels really smooth. Game is very well optimized as an Alpha release and plays really well on lots of hardware configs and also looks decent even on low.

You really don't need calculators.
Point in general direction of where you want to fire you can calculate the distance roughly in meters looking at the map and press fire, watch the chase cam and you can then walk your mortar onto the target.

IF you press C while ones in the air(not sure if thats a custom key i set or default). It cuts the chase cam and you can fire again, you can have up to 3 shells in the air at one time to cause max destruction.
I completely destroyed blues base last night with one taking out all there buildings and vehicles. Much fun was had watching the ANTS scatter as shell after shell crashed down onto there FOB.

Don't even need to guesstimate - as I commented above you can get range data from any "marks" recon have spotted or just place your own "ping" on the map and mouse over it to get the range.

The range binoculars are a good to use. Not only to get range but spot for cash on enemy targets and soldiers.
Definitely one of the easiest ways to make money in game. But players can get range data by just mousing over any "mark" on the map. So, in that sense, the only real utility of a rangefinder ( as opposed to monocular or binoculars ) is that it's giving you instant range data without having to go to the map, and then you can zero in your sniper sights for better accuracy.

been enjoying doing this too - but I couldn't work out last night why I couldn't "spot" enemies even though were in my binocular sights

was looking through a window ... smash the window and all good - bit of a bug I suspect - I mean if you spot the enemy you spot the enemy

Yup, kinda annoying that you have to break every window first.
