Warhammer 40k (Henry Cavill and Amazon)

40k is nothing like either of those things though. This is what I mean about niche. It's reasonable to expect a LOTR fan might be interested in WoT but 40k has almost nothing in common with Star Trek. It would be a huge gamble.
How many interstellar conflicts between empires have featured in Star Trek?

Band of Brothers was huge, so BoB in Space should sell.

Halo is flipping huge though. I've seen nothing to suggest game fans didn't respond well. I loved it and I've played all the game and read the books. Don't be fooled by the loud minority on the internet.

The world needs a high budget 40K TV series.

I want to see space marines smash demons like the Astaries videos for 90mins a episode.

SMASHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I would say WoT has much wider audience appeal, much like GoT it had potential to appeal to a bigger non book audience. I'm not sure 40k has that. What story would you even tell? Horus Heresy is FAR too long, it would take so many series to tell that story. Something like Eisenhorn has the most potential probably.

Yep, I'm not sure what appeal it would have to the mass audience if they "did it properly" and covered all of the lore stuff that real 40k fans are interested in.

Thats the crux like always

Fan nerd level adherence to lore above all else will result in poop. Sure the nerds may love it, but its going to flop in regards normies and won't renew.
Normies targetted audience will have a high chance of annoying the nerdies and but they like to make drama about IP changes.

A great writing team and exec producers will find the balance between sticking to the lore to keep the nerds happy (remember always, a good adaptation actually made will always trump a perfect one not made or cancelled), plus with a story and writing that means people with no lore just take it at face value and judge it on its watchability.

At least with 40k the game came first and the books after. The game didn't have that much lore in it so if using that as the main source it gives more creative scope than trying to stick to the books.

Almost think this needs to be animation though to get the scale of things, cgi would end up too expensive, or look bad. Think scale of what they did in Invincible (or Vox Machina / etc) for example compared to Jupiters Legacy as a comparison, which looks terrible!

I would second a Gaunt or Eisenhorn series would be great, and albeit appears niche, the story elements (if told right) are great and would attract people.

For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action. Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life. Partnering with Natalie Viscuso at Vertigo has been a blessing beyond words, without her we might not have found the perfect home at Amazon. And having a home like Amazon will give us the freedom to be true to the massive scope of Warhammer. To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love. I promise to bring you something familiar. And I endeavour to bring you something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen.

Our first steps are to find our Filmmaker/Creator/Writer. Watch this space, my friends.

For The Emperor!

OmG if this happens it could be amazing.

He has the love for the IP so you know it will stay true to it's roots.

He make an awsome Emperor of Mankind hah (Horus Hersey)

Where have I heard that before?

Isn't Amazon a bit hit and miss for a beloved IP. We've had some pretty good adaptions of Thriller type stuff Reacher and Terminal List but fantasy has had Wheel of Time was super underwhelming and then there was Rings of Power.........
I'm not a 40k fan but I've seen it around for better part of 30 years and would hate to see a hash job done.

Terminal List was very mediocre at best, but you're right about their fantasy adapatations, utter dross.
