Warhammer Total War Confirmed

I was looking at the Rad mod but if it isn't lore friendly I won't bother, I like how they stick to the lore in this game, one of the biggest attractions in it for me.
Feel exactly the same. The respect for the lore actually pleases me.

Like not being able to conquer orc strongholds as the empire etc.

I think a great update which would add a lot more replayability would be different legendary lords equalling a different start point on the map.

I have heard there is a mod that does this but I would like it done officially.

As an example starting far north as dwarfs as Ungrim would be a different game with facing the Undead from the off as opposed to Orcs.

Well not played much but decided grabbing Marienburg is the best start once Empire gets it's first province. Stops those little sods ever getting strong enough to bother you, just have to bet the Brets trading straight away and they're happy enough from then on out.

Really want to complete the campaign as Empire before trying the more interesting factions out for a change!

Well I won the Chaos campaign after around 320 turns. Chaos are a real snowball faction, I barely left the chaos wastes before 200 but then when I was established I crushed everyone pretty fast. The huge irritation as chaos is the army regen being so slow, having to march back up to the wastes all the time is just a chore and doesn't add to the experience.

Started my Vamp counts game, quickly grabbed east and west Sylvannia, crushed Zhufbar, military alliance with the Orcs and now I'm tutting to build up my infrastructure before any further ventures.

Find the combat as them a little tedious, I don't find much "unique" about them right now.

After sticking maybe 50 hours into Radius mod for Warhammer, I am in agreement. Radius does gods work indeed, but he never has been one for sticking to a historical representation or in this case "lore".

What I do think is needed IS a lore friendly unit pack as the game is lacking slightly and as Empire I can get my 2nd to End game army by turn 25 (greatswords, reiksgard cav, handgunners plus a wizard) and then by turn 40 (the Reiksgard get replaced with Demi-grif Halbards and some handgunners go out and get replaced with steam tanks) I have my end game army. An official unit pack can't come soon enough after 100 hours playing the game.

The mod(s) is awful, as it breaks multiple quests and some stuff just doesn't work (the book of grudges can downright not exist as one of the dwarfs). None of them are balanced either, as nothing starts with the same income per turn as the "official" starting position.

Yeah I'll wait for something official then :p

Overall I'm hugely impressed by the game, 40hrs play time so about 13 hours for a campaign and I still have two left. At that point we may start seeing some DLC and can kick on from there, heck even if I have a break before any substantial DLC comes I'll still have racked up around 65-70 hours play time which is a good effort.

13 hours for a long campaign? Holy crap I'm slow! (read probably bad at the game) :p

What's standard for a long campaign?

I'm pretty goal focuses on campaigns and any "easy" battles I just sim where there is no possibility of losing.

Depends on your style of play.

The more aggressive goal focused players will do it quicker than turtlers who are less goal focused (like myself :p)

Depends on if you plan to complete all of the Legendary lord quests and on the difficulty.

I completed a long campaign as the dwarves under 300 turns on normal. Even then I spent a good 50 just wiping out all the Chaos in the wastes for the fun of it after obliterating the Orcs and Vamps. I had to bribe a dwarf faction in the middle of the empire to join mine. Took about 200k but got them in the end.

Completely snowballed once I had taken the entire south east.

Yeah I completed legendary chains as well :p

I'm probably just a little overly goal focused haha. I want to play an Orc campaign again but instead of going for win making it so I have to wipe out the entire map, that will be fun :D

Where's the cheapest for this now? GMG have it for £32, anyone able to beat that?
The missus LOVED the first Rome, the second, not so much but adores the poop out of this.

Currently using some... slightly dodgy steam tricks so we can both play off mine (it's amazing what you can do with an offlined account with it's network connection removed), would like a second copy for multiplayer campaigning and to be good cos it's rather excellent and deserves the support :)

I'm having a ball with the orcs. Totally fun guys to play, I'd suggest playing as Azhag though so you get his quest line earlier and can enjoy him properly "powered up". The big warboss guy is big but otherwise... kinda "vanilla".

Rampaged through what was left of the empire. Franz made a run for it from far north of Altdorf (nearly the coast) until nearly the spikey canyon (just him, on his ****ing Pegasus, with like +30% movement or something ) I eventually pulled in pretty much every army I had (were all kind of plowing different bits of what was left of the empire. I had 6 armies, all with accompanying waagh) chased him into a waiting ambush :D

2 regions left to take for the long campaign victory, I think these and the dwarfs (dwarves?) are my favourite so far.

Cheers on the buying tips, will see what I can find :)
