Warhammer Total War Confirmed

Has anyone played the Chaos campaign?

Playing it on hard at the mo and finding it stupidly easy, I've allied militarily with the two Norse factions and between the three of us we have wiped out half the map by turn 79. Is this normal? Half the time I'm not even getting to fight the Norse AI is insanely aggressive and they have 3/4 death stacks hurtling round and razing everything in sight. Bretonia is already gone, the Empire is on its knees and I haven't even seen the dwarves once yet.

However, despite the ease which seems to come from my friendly Norse mates I'm struggling to build up my horde, turn 78 and the best I can recruit is Chaos Warriors with great weapons my horde growth is completely anaemic. Is this normal or is there some way to speed up horde growth I have missed? Heck I still only have 1 army, if it wasn't for the Norse I would probably be dead by now :p

Strange campaign so far.

been playing co op campaign with a friend, expected it to be a horrible mess sync issues the lot etc

surprisingly it works very well, a neat feature is you can team up against AI in campaign world, when your teammate gets into a fight, you can have the option of spectate or you can control the AI army!

very cool feature I thought :)

Can I lol again? Since I've owned every total war released?

Halfmad was referring to Rome 2 hence my lol since family trees returned in atilla. They wouldn't fit into the lore of warhammer.

Like someone else said a frankly pointless reason to not play one of the best total wars to date.

Got smashed by the Chaos "surprise" in my first campaign :p

Second run through up to turn 172 and only just starting to really venture out of the Noorse lands with Aeling (I think it is) as my allies. It's tough as the Empire are well prepared but just taking my time and working my way south, have Suneater as a second Lord now so losing about 500g a turn but getting about 50k a sack :p

Find you have to get the horde growth skill first, I was so much more prepared for the surprise after having the horde growth I smashed it instantly.

Can see this being by far my longest campaign as 172 turns and all my enemies have barely been tickled so a lot of work left.

Wait so you control the army they're fighting or an allied AI army?

Have yet to try to CO-OP as my game seems to crash after any multiplayer battles.

Horde Growth + 1 point in Lightning strike is essential... Infact Lightning Strike is required for all lords you will be attacking with and aren't Province Lord.

There is also a really cheesy way of beefing up the Chaos lords by repeatedly sacking the same city and never raising it. You don't really get much gold but you can have Chaos giants etc before you even sack the second city as Chaos.

I didn't know that :p

I always sack once/raise for money but didn't realise you can (though in hindsight it's obvious) stack horde growth so fast from raiding.

Interested in this as well. I assume allied AI army. I think he means that if you and your allied mate have stacks in the fight if one of you wants to fight it and the other can't be arsed he gets the option to have the AI play and go for a shower or something :D

My empire campaign is going to hell. The dwarves got utterly crushed by greenskins and I've got major issues with army placements vs incoming barbarian/chaos and greenskins down south. They keep slipping past me and stomping through the midlands :( lol.

Any tips on how to deal with the northen clans?

Me and a mate playing co-op, dwarfs and orcs are gone, just really leaving the empire, but the Varg are annoying me.
I don't know if it's the environment or because I'm playing as Vampire Lords, but I'm taking so much damage in their territory that I can't even reach some of their towns.

I personally think it's one of the best TW games and certainly one of CA's most balanced and smooth game launches ever. It's obviously not going to be a realistic war simulator, it's based on a fantasy board game ffs.
