[Warning Fudzilla] GeCube HD 2900XT beats 8800GTS 640MB

looks like nvidia may be able to improve performance of g80 some more yet. very interesting to see new cards are still not running as fast as they could be, especially in vista.

Yea thats only because NV are crap at drivers lol, yea no question the X1950XT-X is a very nice card, at one point i nearly got the X1900XT.

But judging from recent BETA drivers from NV, they are getting there act together, for some people Dirt seems faster, lots of problems fixed etc..

Fingers crossed they do sort it. ;)

As I said in 2 other threads, not too long ago it was ATI who had bad drivers esp OpenGL and many hated the blated control panel (ok np's you can downlaod without), many reviews showed Nvidia drivers better, from days of Detonators till Nforce, but they seem to have sat on their butts and did nothing good at driver level for the 8800's DX10+ Vista. :(

Would have to agree.

Stalker for me is perfectly playable on the beta 162.15's yet stutters like a pig on the official 158.22's (full dynamic lights) . (all other settings the same)

Its just a shame that the betas caused crash after crash (blue screen bsod).

If thats towards me, you obv dont know your driver history, Nvidia are crap at this moment I can see that, esp for there mobo support.

Why would you assume that, did i quote you then? Just because i happen to own an Nvidia card you assume 'fan boy', please...

Sure NV's drivers are preety bad, but over the past few weeks the drivers have improved to quite abit, NV are far from crap.

Nope, but the eyes looked upwards :p , and I did put in my tupence worth about ATI drivers not so long ago, it is swings and roundabouts, 1 manu gets lazy without the other doing so well, before Detonators Nvidia drivers were really crap.

Just remember, not everyone needs crazy fps on a game to be happy. I'm quite happy to get 25-35 fps in game on my X800XTPE. which means i can run most games maxed (admittedly sometimes having to take the shaders down a bit.) without too much trouble.

exactly. i find it funny when people say 'it leaves this card or that card or whatever 'in the dirt' or 'it obliterates it'. seen as though you are over 100fps in most cases at huge res the difference between 120 and 100 would not be noticed, not if you were actually PLAYING the game. you would notice it if you just sat there for hours with fraps recording everything.

all of these cards are very good, and IMHO these threads seem to pretty much flame bait, no matter how good the intention.

fair enough if you were dealing with 20 fps and 40 fps, as then the difference would be playable/not playable.
