Agreed - the only time the sun will look like that is about 4.5 billion years, when all life on earth will essentially be carbonised.

And as for this nonsense about aligning with the galactic plane - BS. Reminds me of that insane theory from some years ago that we were all doomed because all the major planets were going to be on the same side of the Sun. Apparently all the gravitational forces would add up and destroy the planet....:rolleyes:

Dare I ask how that Nibaru planet is going to affect our axis etc? I thought the solar system was expanding, not the other way around? :p

Or is the orbit of the Nibaru planet that large or something?

Exactly... They imagine one second we're not aligned, and the next we are... :rolleyes:

However, the talk of extreme solar activity is of course a real concern! It wasn't a hundred years ago, but it is now with our reliance on electronics.
 
Personally I think all these doom merchants make these end of the world stories up so they to up to a girl they fancy & say 'the end of the world is nigh, fancy a quickie before we all pop our clogs' :rolleyes::p :o

I thought it was only the mayan calander that ended in 2012? So that is one culture not lots of different ones.

Why not? I guess we will know in 2013 and then the 2012 people will have to come up with some more excuses. Much like the Jehova's witnesses.

iirc it's only the Mayans who's calender runs out in 2012.

it's just like the millennium bug, when people wrote the stuff they didn't think it would be an issue as something new would be here by then.


Besides if they where so great and could predict the future how come they all got Butchered?

I'd love for something catastrophic to happen in 2012, hopefully it'll wipe out the entire world.

Time to crawl back to my cave and plot against the planet :cool:
 
Nothing is going to happen in 2012,

We are not going to turn into super beings

The mysterons are not going to take over us via the Olympic village

Planet X will not wipe us out

Massive solar flare is very unlikely to wipe us out

A massive super volcano will not erupt.

What will happen though?

We will be a shambles of the Olympics,

The government will continue to screw us over

I will be in town last min shopping thinking when's it all going to end.
