Washing machine problem

not sure a capacitor check is so difficult

that's what I thought when I heard starting noise ... it sounded like it was trying to start motor but failing.

But I can't turn the red wheel to disconnect the hot water pipe.
you need to also grip the body of the valve, even if you buy waterpump pliers .... which should be in everyones toolkit mine are bacho
otherwise you can torque the joints elsewhere ... and they might weep

If you haven't got it undone yet, try unscrewing the large red part with a rubber glove on to help you grip it. But definitely keep hold of the pipework that it attaches to while undoing it, or you might be mopping up. :D

Goddamn, I can't get the bloody thing undone! :( I've now removed the whole valve and am using my large heavy pliers but can't make it budge. I can make the valve attachment turn but not the red wheel.
Maybe those grips 200sols posted would work better?

Woohoo, finally got it off! :D I removed the whole hose, seemed easier undoing the red wheel on the machine end. I think I need 3/4" cap to go on that valve.

Guess I'll need to undo the wheel for the cold water hose now ready for a new hose to go on that presumably will come with the new machine , right?

The picture at the end of page 2, that's the hot feed isn't it? What's left of that? That cap needs something to thread onto.

Yeah, see my post #50. That's the hot water valve standing up showing the thread that needs capping. I'm gonna take that with me to the shop.

had not understood - not sure why you wanted to cap it, when the valve would suffice
- plastic compression fittings, like at the T, are more of a risk; cupboard under the sink accidental knocks ... pliers do give a good feel doing them up too.

On mine, looks like there's also a ground wire to unscrew and some pulley mechanism. Can't find my motor on Amazon but espares sell it for £139. Nah, I want the Samsung now. I'll miss having a dryer. Although tbh, I'd not used it for years.
until someone tells me otherwise - I'll consider gorenge next time eg.

our previous, to siemens, 20yr machine was made by asko that are part of them.

Well, I've been advised to cap I suppose because the valve switch could get accidentally knocked to the on position. Unlikely though.

Well, so much for John Lewis. They don't have the larger 8kg ecobubble I want in graphite, only in white. It's £349. But they have the smaller capacity 7kg ecobubble in graphite for £20 more, £369. After trying to negotiate a reduction with them on the 7kg, they simply won't reduce it to £349 because they only match prices like for like. Had they reduced it, I would have added my £40 gift voucher to it. So I told them I'll buy the 8kg at Currys who do have it in graphite for £349.
