had not understood - not sure why you wanted to cap it, when the valve would suffice
Meh, I dont consider it good practise to leave uncapped valves. So easy to knock.

I know that feeling well. My machine gave up the ghost right before a bank holiday weekend, so I had to wait even longer for the delivery of my new machine.I just bought a Samsung 8Kg ecobubble from Currys for £349, it comes Tuesday.Just as well, my laundry basket is starting to honk a bit

On a positive note, there's nothing like a few loads of laundry to help you familiarise yourself with the machine.![]()
There have been a couple of instances today where during a rinse cycle the drum made a few clockwise rotations to agitate the clothes, filled with more water, then drum made a few anticlockwise rotations. Other than that, I've not been able to get it to rotate again. it just fills with water, then stops, I have to manually nudge the dial to move it on at which point it will make a buzzing noise. Move it on again, fill with more water, and so on. Eventually I'm able to get it to drain the water and open the door to an empty drum. In the video you'll hear the gurgling from the pipes under the kitchen sink when it removes the water.
You just need a pair of grips to get it started.

Actually, although the cap seems to fit perfectly, I'm able to move the valve lever a a few millimetres and that lets water come out, albeit not shooting out like a jetstream as it does without the cap. So it works but not foolproof. I don't know if this is normal or not.
Sounds like the programme selector has gone doubtful you'd find a replacement a machine that old its probably mechanical rather than electronic and not worth it the expense/hassle anyway.
Did you buy the rubber washer to go with it as it won't seal without it?
Toolstation sell the brass caps without the washer for some odd reason, whereas Screwfix and others come with the correct washer.
The blanking caps that come without a washer can be used with a standard washing machine hose washer. Toolstation and Screwfix both sell those washers for about a £1 for 10.
Was it this one, for £1.89? If so, I might get one for my hot outlet, just for peace of mind. I am weary of the one review which states it doesn't come with the rubber washer shown in the picture.
Cheers, I'll perhaps phone and ask. Is there an item number or something I can use? It's not that one darael, and I can't seem to find it on their website. But mine was slightly less at £1.35, it's 3/4" and it comes with a black disc rubber insert which is visible in my photo.
I flooded part of my kitchen tonight. After putting the cap on I decided to unscrew it again to check something, but I inadvertently was unscrewing the whole valve from the main water pipe instead of the cap and warm water gushed out everywhere. I was like "oh no..no no!!", panicked a bit but eventually turned the main hot water inlet lever to off and spent the next hour mopping up.![]()
