Just outside my bedroom window, under the gutter, there is always LOADS of wasps flying around, coming and going. Sucks as I have to keep my window closed most of the time.

Its a bit funny when they do get in though...as I spend about 5 minutes waiting for it to stop flying around so I can slap my flip flop and kill it. I've got about 5 dead wasps spread around in my room right now

Anyway, im assuming there is a nest in the loft - i'll check one cold quiet night when there aren't that many flying around, but, if my assumptions are correct, whats the best course of action to get rid off them?

Do i need to get an exterminator in? I read somewhere online that the council get rid of them for free, anyone had any experience, is it true?

Most councils don't get rid of them for free anymore, they recommend a contractor who charges. Cost me something like £40 to get rid of the one in our wall.

i read about someone who was stung to death on a farm because he disturbed a nest whilst cutting the grass.

nah council will ask for a £35 ish fee, even if you tell them that kids are in danger. also diesel works a treat just dip a lot of it on a cloth and throw it over there nest and run (you dont light it) the smell kills them for some reason.

its best to get an exterminator in to get the job done properly, my neighbour had 3 in his garden when he though it was just the one, if he'd tackled it himself he'd probally have missed the other two and let his kids out in the garden to play again.

Yep the council will do it for about £30-40. My parents had them to remove a nest in their garage roof last year. Very good job. He came within about a couple of days the wasps were all dead in an hour or so.

Do what my dad did...attack the nest with a high pressure jet wash from the outside of the house and then when they start crawling up through a little gap in the floorboards in the house beat them with a newspaper....

My dad was a fool, needless to say we all got stung. even the dog :(

Best to get someone in who knows what there doing, i dont think it costs much i had to do that because of them being in the loft and coming in and out of the vents to the outside. Havent had a problem since.

I'd get a professional to do the job, someone died via excessive wasp stings the other day, his last words to his brother on the phone - "the wasps have got me" :(

Wait until there is absolutely no activity from the nest and then pour a cup of petrol in the nest.

Perhaps not a great idea to do this if the nest is indoors though :p

Well, I read about this genius idea on here, so :D

If your Dyson hoover hose reaches through the window and up to the nest, then at night when they are all in the nest, suck them all up with it. Then, having prepared a pile of wasp poison powder, suck this up straight afterwards. You can watch them swirling round in a cyclone of poison until you are confident they are finished, then switch off. Sorted :p

Excellent idea. This requires recording for youtube and posting here!!

We had a big ass nest in our shed. I just bought some foam killer from tescos and repeatedly sprayed the nest until they all died, worked like a treat an cost a couple of pounds!

BA :)

I heard if you embalm your penis in mustard and stick it in the nest it sorts it all out. Apparently wasps hate mustard.

Go try it out and let us know how it goes
