Wasteland ARMA II Mos : Server Details

Into a new month, thanks again for all the donations we received last month. I have updated the forums with a new post for next month server costs. Just a reminder that you guys can request alternative missions to be placed on server 2, if you want a break from Wasteland and also look out for our Arma 3 server.

We had a lot of complaints with the independent slots as basically red and blue forces were decimated with no-one joining them.

Needs to be a balance struck or we might as well just make it 100% Independent.

I had to join opfor on my own a few nights back as there was no Inde slot for me :D

More people want to play independant anyway I think, could you not just make opfor smaller than blufor and then make more independant slots? Its not exactly like its a full on team vs team anyway though you know people will complain about anything so expect the "its unfair sizes but disregard that independants can stack it either way" argument

I hate being on blu/opfor as I dont like playing with people I domt trust tbh so independant with groups is idea for me.

Blufor/opfor ends up splitting into smaller sections anyway.

Can you not make it so that there are more character slots than server slots and just let the masses decide, I think it would be much more fun with the inde group section :) doesnt affect me eithern due to the team i pick i get to shoot at everyone regardless ;)

This is how we had it before ToeJam, I think there were about 33 independent slots? I am quite undecided which way we should go. Is it not more fun attacking bases? :D Only Bluefor and Opfor seem to make bases to attack.

I very quickly got fed up with people TKing, and people joining a side who are spying for the other... I'd love a perma ban for anyone caught spying or TKing, alternativly you could have the ip locked onto the side they pick for an entire 24 hrs which would stop some of the spying
 
Real issue is the missions..they get completed way too fast and with 25 independants in teams running around the map + opfor and blufor finding action at mission is very hard.Tanks have to be rapaired in order to allow anyone inside them not sure if this can be done.... why are there soo many repair kits haha I nearly always have two.

Yeah i enjoy attacking bases but i prefer the firefights over objectives and id hate to be stuck on a team that likes to sit in their base all evening. We tend to hold a town until an objective comes up and use the materials nearby to block bits off.. Then we head back there, reclaim it and add a bit more inbetween objs, only because it seems a bit pointless to drive around unless you need something lol.

Do you think that maybe one big team and the rest inde would be a good idea? Say around 30blufor then the rest inde, i dont think it would take anything away from the game and if people want to form their own team on inde then they can. Other than immediately being in a team with the grouping system there doesnt seem a reason for the premade teams to me other than forcing people together.

Right now when the server is full weve come across having to wait for an open spot, ive often seen all teams are full and if someone leaves its not always from the team you want to join so you are often left in the lobby waiting for a spot so you dont get locked to a team. Is it possible to make more team spots than server slots though, then let the server decide what it wants to do.. If that many people want towork in smaller groups itll be awesome, then you dont get forced to work with carebears that cant win without a zerg ;
 
Things are fine as they are now.

The server, as it is, is a culmination of feedback over several months, not the wishes of one individual or small group.

-Repair kits should be removed from random spawn.
-Turret on APC/Tank set to red so that it's disabled until an engineer repairs to full orange or a repair kit is used.
-removal of 2 storey depots, horrible pointless props that we could do with getting rid off.
-Enable the ability to tow vehicles with people inside them.

Not against ToeJams idea of removing one of the sides, purely because it would solve a **** load of AI problems. If all the AI was on opfor then there would be no punishment for killing them any-more etc.

Although I feel groups on Inde are slightly OP compared to current Opfor and Bluefor. There should be some kind of advantage/incentive to make-up for the weaker group dynamic provided to them.

I like this idea also, I dident like how you lost points when killing indie players if your indie, you cant climb the leaderboard for kills as they count as TK. Or maybe i've got it completely wrong

Your ideas are all good bud. Didnt even think about the ai problem, that would definately be good.. No more stealing bmps from the air field heh. Having two different factions doesnt really make sense in a game where either side cant win, doesnt create anymore rivalry.

I thought the faction teams had access to spawning in a specific town long as no enemy was there where as indes can only random unless in a group? And dont blufor get the use of the mobile radar station (spawn point?)

The biggest advantage having a faction made team is being able to easily make friends for people new to the server and not having everyone trying to kill you and spawning next to friendlies
 
How come folks can spawn on each other well after they died?
I killed a guy, at least 30seconds after another spawned on his body so i killed him and a third time.
This was a town we controlled in one of the cap points.
 
Took about 20minutes to get our third guy in with us on independent tonight, bit frustrating. Plenty of people leaving the server but just not independent. Definitely needs to be more indy slots, was quite a few people waiting not just him.

Seems there are 50blufor, 50opfor and only 20 indy slots at the moment
 
Fact is, our small group was there from day one with this server, always giving feedback/ideas etc and when I post one tiny idea I get a reply like that.

I know, and we've all seen the results of a bit of drama in game and on the forums, I'd rather not have that again. So let's just chill, alright?

Your suggestions are taken into account like everyone else's, nothing happens straight away as things usually get talked over a bit before implementation.
 
Bananaaa / Jewish Afghan / Jewish Pakistani whatever you want to call yourself, what you fail to mention is, despite being one of the first "groups" on the server most of you, and i'll be specific in saying you, have been banned and kicked multiple times for being abusive, trolling, calling us ****s, saying you'd rather play on the russian server because this one is **** and the list goes on.

I dont have an issue with you or your group playing on the server, but if you want to continue to do so have some respect for the people who put their time and money into running the server, stop being abusive, stop whinging, stop trolling or go play somewhere else. No one is forcing you to play here.

Perhaps it would still work with one bigger team and a few more independents?

Did you have it with the grouping system you have now? could you maybe make independents auto group to start with and then have to leave the group if they want to be solo? Not sure how that'd quite work with team killers though, if you can have it know whos in your group, is there a way to script it to announce if you kill someone in your group so people don't try and troll with it and it won't be a ballache to police?

Its quite a pain when sometimes the people you play with have a limited time and to play and you can get on the server but not into a group you want to be with. I like indy because there is way more targets and I dont have to mute everyone on my team everytime I join :D

This happens when the player you killed has not yet chosen where he/she would like to respawn. The player will normally appear back at the body when they are on the respawn menu.

They cannot attack, move or even see you at this point. Please try not to kill them.

I could try knocking up a version where it's BluFor vs Independent and have OpFor used as AI. Will try my new version of re-spawning vehicles on it as well. Could put it on server 2 to test possibly?
