Wasteland ARMA II Mos : Server Details

That is what VON and team speak are for. If we start putting icons above people's heads it starts looking like BF3! :)

Didn't feel like BF3 to me when on the Russian server, despite the language barrier, was able to team up with a Russian and complete an objective. Then met up with 2 other Russians and made an attack on the blue base.

More of a FFA at the moment unless we are on TS :)
 
I played pretty much all day yesterday and attacked a few bases and had a few successful road blocks set up.
A few things I'm confused about and would love someone to clear up are...
After building a base how do I get AI's to defend it? As a base me and others attacked had 7/8 AI's defending it.
And how do the satellite spawns work and how do I acquire them?
 
Dunno about the rest but regarding the satellite spawns, I've found them dotted about the map.

Just pick them up and plonk them down where you would like to spawn next and when you die you get the option to spawn there.

Enemy bases that are spawned with AI protecting them are usually spawned from the missions that get generated.

The Sat dishes are used by picking one up and then going into the player menu(not gear) and selecting use. When you re spawn you get a choice of normal spawn or the satellite spawn point.
 
As much as I hate to dumb down ARMA I think having icons over team mates would be benificial for the retards.

Yup to many of them about! It's also lame that when you kill a civilian as a Rogue you go -1, half the time you get shot at first and have to shoot back and then you get punished for it! Although it doesn't really matter, it's still annoying.

I played quite a bit yesterday although there are some things i prefer about the Russian server and some with the OcUK one.

Russian one is better for spawning as you start with a G17 which isn't amazing but helps a lot, also more cars around which seem to have loot aswell. Also easy to see who is enemy and friendly but the language barrior and ping is bad.

Markers one is better for ping, community due to most speaking English and good Admins! :). Although it lacks the starting pistol which helps considering its the only server i've been on where finding loot in a car is a nightmare. Team killing is rife on here aswell due to people not checking, so an icon of some kind is needed.

Love the mod though, its much better than DayZ where you run around for 2 hours gearing up only for some idiot geared up to snipe you from a forest. In this you spawn and get yourself geared up quite quickly and with all the cars around can get back into battles 5-10 mins after dying or quickly if lucky.

basically i would love markers to be better . the honest truth is it lacks what the Russian one has which is

gun shop seems to work every time ive tried it whether they have modded there configs or whatever i dont know

team work. on that server they all help and i mean all ! it makes the game come alive with it being played properly. if you haven't got team work on your server its pointless.

cars and vehicles seem more numerous on the Russian one this makes it more exciting and your willing to have more fun as you know you can get more if you die.

people say the russain one lags but on markers yesterday i had constant desync yellow red all time i played . i do get lags on russain but not to the extent of what i actually got on markers.


what some cant seem to grasp is its full24/7 every week ! they have the best formula for this mod. if the language bothers you mute it ! play as normal

i was making the suggestions so we on here can play on markers and it becomes as good as that one which it could but it still needs things sorting.

when you get it right it will be probably as busy . so please dont say your wrong or this and that it just isnt as good set up as it could be and thats all i was pointing out.

also the team markers above peoples heads are a great help


if i were you marker i would add more vehicles
markers above peoples heads
kick team killers or be strict on it
check out the gun shop make sure it works properly
give people a pistol as starting weapons

I honesty think you don't understand.

The server is set up properly. I have set the parameters to give the most amount of vehicles, random weapons in vehicles, and also in unblacklisted a couple more vehicles.

The Russian version is a custom version, so it will be different from tonics version, which I am running.

The gun shops that I have been to work, but someone last night on side said they were at one that wasn't working, so that was probably the same one as you were at.

I have a few plans to do somethings with it, which will be easily ported over to newer versions.

There was a fair bit if desynch last night, which in probability would have cleared if I had restarted the server again as there was none the previous night.


But, a lot of the things on the ru server, are beyond my scripting knowledge at the moment.

Marker can you post details on how to donate towards the server? The Russian server was fun but quite laggy for me. I have really poor FPS at the best of times due to my machine but it feels better when playing on a UK server.

I have to agree with Dg, not sure how the Russians have done it because like you say, you are running the official tonic version but they seem to have more cars/weapons being spawned. The buildings had resources you could gather and it's nice to spawn with a pistol. Numerous times yesterday I spawned in town right on top of enemy AI, with no vehicles to loot, so nothing to defend myself with.

I will be sticking with the UK server even if nothing changes.

Since there is no save feature like Day Z, it's not easy for Marker to just restart the server. As you know, people have put tonnes of work into making bases and that would be destroyed on every restart. So it has to be when completely necessary.

the gun shop that didnt work correctly for me was the one in middle map on right hand side . the gun seller is there ,the ammo crate is there the fire is there just no option to buy.

I don't think he is putting this forward for arguements sake to be honest, I agree with him and it is not down to you it is just the way they have set it up.

I will not even claim to know how they have done it, but on their server it is so fun and works very well. I enjoyed my time on your server yesterday aswell, but if you could make it more like the .RU one then it would be much better.

If you decide to or not, i'll still be playing on yours but maybe less depending on what you do while messing around on the .RU one aswell.
 
To be honest with you, if I could get a hold of samatras server files then I would probably run that ine.

I can try and do a mix match of the ru version and see if it will run with tonics server files.

I'll try that off line tonight and see what happens.

That'd be cool, i loved playing on DE4 and i'll probably spend a lot of time on the new Wastelands server. I don't know what he has done but it has completely the right mix for this kind of mod and you can tell its liked as it's literally always full.

I'll have a look around and see if there is a similar version out there.
 
Must admit i did get pretty bored on markers server but the russian server was a lot of fun, so a mix of both would be awesome.

Got the vehicles spawning, just need to run it on my server to see if the other objects spawn and we have icons above our heads!

Tell me guys, is there AI on the Russian server?
 
Anyone any good with photoshop! Need 4 different coloured icons!

Blue, red, cream and green please! 64x64 transparent jpeg then I can use texview to turn them into paa files!

Should be able to get the icons onto Tonics version straight away if someone can do that for me!

Probably an auto TKing script will be fairly simple to port across as well!
 
Only problem with an auto TK'ing script, is that Civ's that have gone Rogue get -1 for killing a civilian which is stupid.

I think with the normal Tonic version they roam and with the Russian one they don't and stick to where they spawn or around where they spawn.
