Wasteland ARMA II Mos : Server Details

hey guys, ive only just heard of this(big dayz fan) and when i went to search for servers i saw the ocuk one, how would i go about getting into it, says its locked
 
Hey guys, I am interested in playing this, but I have a question regarding the client. I just tried playing with the same client I use for DayZ, but with the mod disabled, and I got a bunch of errors saying I had to delete the files or reinstall the game.

So does that mean I'll need a separate install for this? Is that even possible with the Steam version?
 
No need to use a separate client for this, just type wasteland into the in game server browser filter and pick a server, it will download the mission file, then you can play.

Oh and steam version is fine too..
 
You need the full version of combined ops which is both arma 2 full version and operation arrowhead.And both patched to the latest patches.
There is not mod like dayz,its just a mission file downloaded when you join the server.
So if your combined ops is working you should be fine.

Having a think about this..

If we are to continue with the server, then I would like to go the dedicated server route!

This obviously means more expense each month!

It also means we can have more than one server running, or different game servers!

I would be wiling to pay half of the server costs, I would also need a guarantee that the rest would be donated..

Let me know what you think guys!

hi there guys,

So there i was, bored of DayZ and needing something to play. heard about Tonics Wasteland mod, played it a bit and stumbled onto MarKeRs mod, man i was hooked. Got in touch with him via the DayZ site and sent him a PM asking if it would be possible to get a hold of his mod to run on my dedicated server in South Africa.
To my suprise i received a pm from him that very same day, saying that he would be more than happy to mail me the files once he got home.

that afternoon i had already lined up a few of my clan members and we were sitting waiting for the mod to arrive in my inbox. in the meantime MarKeR was kind enough to accept my friend request on steam, so when i received the mod and had some issues with starting the server (im a total N00bmin btw) i contacted him on steam.
what blew me away is that MarKeR gave up more than an hour and a half of his own time helping me set up the server...he dealt with my stupid questions and sorted me out. when the server was running he even connected for a few mins to make sure its all running smooth!
MarKeR, the help me received from you was above and beyond the call of duty and for that i tip my hat to you kind Sir! if i had beans id throw them at you by the truck load!

Having run the mod for a while now im happy to say that it runs smooth and makes for a very enjoyable game...with the guys in SA smiling from ear to ear.

Just logged on after having a week holiday....again server is busy why I am unable to play!! :mad:


Also found a base with 16 different trucks/urals parked up. Maybe a fresh restart or was it someones pride of joy over the weekend?
 
I really do love this mod, despite having a terrible cold I was up until 4am playing this last night. The one thing that gets on my nerves though is people on your team just not working together and going off doing their own thing, surely that's what the independent slots are for? Other than that in my opinion it's better than DayZ due to teamwork (shame you have to force teams on people to work together) as it's not full of idiots just treating it as a death match. I won't even try and compare it to War Z lol.

You don't, I just go to my arma 2 install folder, open arma 2 Co beta, make sure you check in expansions and disable anything to do with dayz, arma should restart. Now go to multiplayer and search for wasteland, you may need to refresh a few times for all servers to appear. Then join one of the most populated ones. Once you join, choose what team you want to be in (bluefor, opfor, or independent) then just to the right of that choose your class by clicking on one of the available slots, (you will know they are available because it says "nobody"). Enjoy

I hope this makes sense.

P. S. I was in a chopper full of Russians last night on route to a mission when one of them started playing the song fortunate son over direct. One of the coolest moments in my gaming life.

I can play normal versions of arma 2 and other types such as domination with the dayz expansions installed .. why do i need to turn them off?

I'm not clued into how the arma 2 system works that much, like a lot of people i bought it for dayz but recently i've noticed theres a lot of other great content here.

I can search using the arma 2 multiplayer system and in the expansions menu on main menu i can disable and enable things .. i havent messed with it , just in case something happens... i should search for wasteland in the multiplayer menu do i need anything other than arma 2 and arma 2 co to play it? there are a lot of addons
 
Well I had problems joining until I went into the expansions menu in arma 2 and disabled all dayz stuff. I can still join dayz servers fine through dayz commander even with it all disabled. Then when you join a wasteland server anything you are missing is downloaded automatically , it really is that simple. No messing with folders or anything like that.

K thanks bud, i'll try it tonight... there is a specific ocuk server ?
 
Sure is mate..

Jump in the ocuk server, filter it...

Then feel free to jump in the ts3 server also... Cannot remember the ip just now at work...

Server is in sig..

I could probably get the server a bit cheaper than the £140 that jegethy pays, will do some work and see what i can pull off..
