Wasteland ARMA II Mos : Server Details

Was on one of the servers last night, I think there was around 90/120 players. Blufor had made their base on Cherno docks, we were attacking it in huge numbers. At one point we had a plane doing round trips to balota, filling it up with men and they were parachuting out into the base while around 13 of us were pinning the base down from the town. It was the biggest battle I have ever seen. Sadly it ended prematurely when a spoilt brat hacker teleported everyone into the sky where we fell to our deaths. Up until that point though it was the most immersing gaming experience ever.

Yup, ARMA is hands down still one of the best games out at the minute.

Ill be playing all version of arma more than and cod or battlefield and ive spent many hours on those, its a shame really the hacking can really **** me off, i hated the cheating / hacking on cod and ****** tactics on battlefield but arma its straight up in your face hack

Not had any problems with Hackers when it comes to Wasteland. There just isn't much point due to how fast you can gear up etc. Day Z was rife with it though.

True there isnt as much but theres always one spoilt little baby who dies one to many times because their skills cannot match my kung fu and rippes the entire server for it

True. Unfortunately DayZ brought many, many undesirables to the game who exploited easily because of how the engine relies on scripts.

Fingers crossed when ARMA 3 is released they will lock it down a hell of a lot more.
 
If anyone gets hold of a Blackhawk can they test the left side gunner? Was using it last night and it didn't hit a thing. Didn't see any obvious signs of tracer fire either. Not sure if it was just a one time bug or not.

I will if I get a chance, although my friend and I are planning to join the independents tonight to start an insurgency war against blu and opfor.

Ok Guys

Found a dedicated server host at a decent price..

I have some spare cash this month, so I will pay for it on Friday, and get the server running over the day!

This month is on me.. I would really appreciate a bit of help over the next few months at least if possible!

Arma is the last bastion for the modding community. We don't want it locked down, we want mod tools all the hooks and scripting ability.

Should be open to the mod community but server side locked down. Clients being able to run scripts so easily is what destroyed Day Z.
 
Looks like the old mission file did have a problem with desync then, that 404 one was relatively smooth all night.

So anyway, my opinions on what should be changed:

-Slightly less weapon/ammo caches (Seems to be 2 or 3 per town :D)
-Make your own idea for enemy AI at the airbases, the bmp was quite cool on old server but maybe experiment with some new ideas?
-Not overly fussed with having to eat/drink found it annoying more than anything. I don't think it adds to the game but others might disagree.
-The flagging of enemy and friendly players at the gun/general store needs to go. Hate it sooooo much, half of the towns you basically have a radar for enemy players :/

Server bought!

Should have access to it around 3 or 4 pm. After that, just a case of getting ARMA dedicated server into it and setting it up. Hopefully be up sometime later tonight, I am in no rush to get it up as we have the other server running properly now!
 
Ok

Absolute mental day! Dedicated server is up and running, along with the normal server!

So right now, we have 3 servers running!





Still a little bit of configuring to do with the settings, but should be able to finish that off on the morning.

I have managed to fix the problem with the 2500 ping, so main 70 man server should be visible after the next restart...

Now..

I was thinking, and if you guys agree, hows about a Dayz Taviana map? Private hive... Or, we could up the main server bit by bit until maybe 100 players!

Let me know what you think.
