Watch Dogs Legion

Started this recently, played about 11 hours.

It's OK, nothing special. London looks great though gotta give Ubisoft props for that.

I was very surprised at how dark the story line is.

I'm quite enjoying the game. Best in the series although the missions are quite samey. Get the spider drone out do some reconnaissance, kill some guards, hack the CCTV cameras, set the traps, download the data etc...

Yes, crashing is a matter of course for this game. Surprisingly I could finish with barely a handful of crashes at launch, but now when I went back to it with a better GPU it's been nothing but crashes and issues. In the end it doesn't matter because I'm over the game but it is a damn shame.

Finished watch dogs legion (the first WD game I’ve actually completed, I came close in 2). It was enjoyable enough. The recruiting system was great, it looked great, but as with all Ubisoft games it became repetitive and uninventive, although I did prefer some of the final sequences. Preferred 2 for the most part, but liked the recruitment system of legion more. The world feels alive and reactive at least, its too easy to take that for granted.

What I did find strange is that the game pushes you toward stealth for the most part (not that I ever do this), but by the end it was all guns blazing with no stealth options.

I’d definitely play any sequel released.

It ran flawlessly on my XSX.

I'm really enjoying this game and have loved some of the missions, I won't spoil by naming them.
With RT on its simply stunning too and I thought the drive mechanics are excellent.
I would've like a bigger version of London though but In saying that they've certain packed a lot in to what they have.
Would like to be able to go into more buildings too....
And the accents could be much better.

Finished this game a few days back.

Graphics are excellent.

The main missions are good and the story line is very good too. I would say the best in the series so far.

The only thing that brings the game down is a lot of the side missions reuse the same locations again and again. So once I had got to about the 50% point everything bar the main story line was just the same thing over and over.

Another thing I found was that really you only need the spider and someone with a powerful weapon and you can pretty much take on any mission. They need to think up better variety in the missions because the spider is pretty much the only gadget you need.

Over all it was a good game and I give it an 8/10.

It was my joint game of last year along with Horizon New Dawn. I would give it an 8/10 for the decent storyline missions but as others said the side missions got a bit samey.
  • The London map is excellent and has great detail. It can be a joy to just walk around seeing the different locations.
  • The fact your inactive team members go about the map and you can even run into them.
  • The graphics just doen't get enough credit, RT reflections in this game are excellently done. Standing at a set of lights and a bus stopped in front of me and a crowd of people. Everyone and everything around us was reflected on the bus. It was one of those "wow" moments for me.
  • I like the fact that NPCs have a purpose, I looked at a person's mino-bio and it said they were going to St. James' Park to relax. I followed them for about 10 minutes and they walked there and sat on a park bench.
  • I also saw an Albion officer stop a random passer by and try to arrest her after a failed scan. Well she just did some judo move that had the albion officer on his back in a split second. I thought I like her and recruited her for my team. That kind of thing just elevated NPCs beyond pointless padding.
  • The recruit and play as anyone really is a great idea but could have been so much better. For example have it so you have to co-ordinate with multiple team members to complete a mission. One team member needs to shadow and individual to download/access a security key that allows another team member to access a secure location somwhere else in London, to get an item/person for example that progresses the storyline.
  • They could also have made the fast travel mechanic much better by making the subway off limits (too many cameras) and the only way to fast travel is to switch to a team member who is closer to your destination. You can already do this but just make it more a core gameplay mechanic so you end up using more varied team members.
  • Also have certain team members have skills that are essential for completing certain missions but the opposite could also be true. You can't use a construction worker to hack a server but a hacker trying to go toe to toe with trained and armed guards eqials certain death or capture. This ties in with the co-ordinated team missions above.
  • How about when one of your members gets caught, you can go to the station they are held and bust them out.
  • It might seem easy at first but get yourself cornered and you will lose an operative. This can be actually very annoying if you have become attached to this individual.

Other than that the game really is great and brought so many new things to the genre. It did do some things wrong, for example some of the accents are totally out of place. Though overall not enough negatives to detract from the overall experience.

ICDP that's a great post.

Just now my 1st game of the day and wow I smiled, I have the Spy now and I helped a plastic surgeon in dickie bow and hat getting harrassed by an albion guard, I literally garroted the guy hahaha
but it get better, another albion guy came to fight me and not only did the plastic surgeon guy help me so did a little crowd of bystanders hahahahaha
This game doesn't get the praise it deserves.

Absolutely agree, it is full of little touches and details like that. After you have helped a borough rise up to defiant you have to be careful as they are more likely to defy uniformed Albion officers. I had a mob surround me and hackle one of my recruits who was in uniform, even had a few push me around. So while recruiting uniformed officers is good for accessing off-limit sites, don't run around in uniform until you need it.

I had just finished WDL when Cyberpunk came out and the NPCs and AI in CP2077 just seemed so pointless and boring.

The reviews I read about CP2077 are scating about the "AI" in it.
I would have no interest in CP2077 even at the 20 quid it;s going for on certain sites.

I also like how while WDL didn't use official car licenses you can actually tell which car is based on real life cars, brilliant!

I even tested 2 of the sport cars available and they def both had a different feel to them, drove totally differently.

BTW I'm doing something of a first for this game, I am using KB + Mouse but when I get into a car I switch to joypad, have to say it's working like a dream.

TBH the NPC AI in CP2077 are the least of its problems - after awhile you don't really care about that aspect of the game hah.

I turned off DLSS and this game still looks garbage, it only doesn't look garbage on my 4k OLED.

I've just picked the game up and wanted to tweak the visuals a bit to improve them. Had read that switching DLSS off increases quality so just about to try that. Running the game on an HP Omen gaming laptop:-

  • Intel® Core™ i7-10750H Processor
  • RAM: 16 GB / Storage: 1 TB HDD & 512 GB SSD
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB
Any other ways to tweak the visuals?

^ That's ubisoft games for you. It's why I rarely play them, every time you load a game up there's some huge ridiculous patch you have to download, even though it's full of *****, usually multiplayer stuff I have zero interest in.

I have just downloaded this from Steam as it is a free trial over the weekend.
I didn't really expect it to play at all with posts saying they have upgraded their PCs to run it.
I thought I would give it a try with my Windows 7, i5-2500k and GTX1080 and it seems to run perfectly with no pausing or freezing and that is with all the graphics on Ultra, It probably is running at low FPS but not unplayable at all.
Will be better I imagine when I build my new Ryzen PC later in the year and I will see the difference

It's only unplayable if you're use to maxing everything out with RT and over 100fps using DLSS. For those groups of people yes, anything below that it would be classed as "unplayable".

I just found the game really repetitive, having done 1 playthrough i didn't feel the need to play it again unless they've dropped more content since.

I got this for free ages ago, but I completed Halo: Infinite recently and wanted something else to get in to.

This seems absolutely dull as dishwater though. Typical Ubisoft - icons all over the map, but not very fun to play.

Even flying over london in a cargo drone can't make this fun...I can't be arsed playing mediocre games now. Far Cry 6 was the same.
