Watchmen

The only thing I didn't understand was why they didn't explain how the characters got their powers, besides Dr. Manhattan of course. I guess I need to read the novels to find out this info.

None of them have powers apart from Manhattan. Veidt has extraordinary intelligence and strength but no powers as such (iirc). That sounds like a problem with the film in that it doesn't make this clear (I've seen/heard this mentioned before).

So they're just really good fighters then? What about Adrian catching that bullet at the end? Just lucky?

and speed. catching a bullet's pretty super-human lol

A quick fleebay search shows that there seems to be blu rays available but I assume they are not for the UK???

I only have my PS3 for Blu Ray.

Iirc in the comic when they're searching Adrians office one of the files on the desk was related to performance enhancing drugs. Basically he took shed loads of stims etc and that resulted in his super human speed. Obviously that wouldn't happen in real life, but neither would Dr Manhattan :)

It was supposed to be down to him practising or something if I recall. He didn't know if it'd actually work when he caught the bullet for real. He was biologically no different to any other normal human though, except for his intelligence.

EDIT: This aswell

Anyone got their hands on the Ultimate Cut? I'm trying to find release dates for the UK but can't find any! Seems ridiculous considering it was released a month ago in the US.

Saw this the other week & sold the disc on. Regretting it now as looking back its the sort of film you need to watch more than once.

I watched this a few days ago, but it didn't quite do it for me. It is the sort of thing you need to watch more than once to appreciate it, but I don't think I could put myself through that again.

My synopsis of Watchmen:

appalingly bad:
the acting was abysmal
the story was laughable
the premise was pathetic
the music was awful
the intro was too long (as was the middle and end)
the Silk Spectre was wearing latex
had a Owl that cried himself to sleep each night because he wasn't batman
there was a giant blue penis

Worst.Film.Ever.

Edit:

Just realised I posted my feelings about this movie already several times in this thread. Sorry to bang on :)
