Waterfox

Hmm a reboot fixed the pinned sites issue I had, I guess something within Firefox bodged up somewhere when I installed UX with Waterfox installed as well.

Nice! :D

I didn't have to reboot though, also have waterfox and firefox installed.

So then, which one are you going to use now?

Tried the new waterfox out there, seems a bit quicker and snappier, but I still think the nightly/UX build just edges it overall in performance for me.

Anyone else tried the nightly/UX builds out and compared to WF?

Also noticed that WF (don't know about FF) now loads images in the centre of the screen with a dark grey background.

And that "fix" for the WF auto update still doesn't work for me

I've moved to Nightly 13 x64 from Waterfox 10, it just seems a bit quicker (most likely placebo), I've never experienced any major bugs with Nightly releases and addons are compatible so why not try the latest.

That and the fact that all new Firefox releases carry out a small performance improvement, usually.

I was on the firefox beta channel, I noticed that image center feature probably around v11 beta 2. I tried out 12a1 and did not like the big changes to the ui. So i went back to beta channel. I have not tried the nightly builds but i think that might just be the same as 12a1. I am using waterfox now. Only issue i have is with the tab height. But havnt had time to look in to that yet.

It is messy, yea. I updated a firefox 3 theme and there is no documentation on how to do it so you have to look through new themes and try and find out what the css is. Complete time waste. I doubt ill update it anymore as the way i use it, it works.

I like the black watefox button over the ugly orange one on default theme though.

This is pretty damn cool! :D

1) Hit Ctrl+Shift+I and at the bottom select 3D

2) Click on the screen and drag the page around. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

3) Hit ESC key to exit.

Works on nightly builds as well!

Also, I personally hate the colours of the firefox menu button, so I use this:

http://userstyles.org/styles/46402/firefox-menu-button-transparenter

Or I just use stratiform to use the small firefox icon (in white) instead and have it transparent as well! :D

There is a new update out for nightly, off to try it out now :p

Tbh it's not surprising that the ff build which mozilla has been chugging out for almost a year is faster than the simple recompile/newly activated tags of waterfox. Now that it's possible to unable automatic updates of waterfox it comes down to personal preference, though the majority of users tend to stay away from the alpha/beta build of ff.

Just because people wont have been paying attention:

Then waterfox > Help > About if you want to check manually.

I have just installed it myself. Did not uninstall Firefox first though.

It seems to have moved over everything without fuss. Passwords, Add-Ons, even the OcUK black theme.

Am I likely to encounter any issues leaving Firefox on my PC, or should I uninstall it?

Keep it on if you like, it won't affect WaterFox.

That's just a problem with things not supporting x64 e.g. try downloading something from the iplayer and you get the install message before it works.

On the other hand, your problem is because EA forced you to use origin and gave you a browser based solution so they can spy on you. Such nice people.
