Wayne Rooney on course to start the world cup

If they rush him like that it will be a bad, BAD move. Even if the bones look like they have recovered on a scan, they will still be weaker than usual & susceptible to further damage.

It's not fair to place so much pressure on one persons career because of our desires.

I thought bones healed stronger than before the break?

I'd far rather leave him out until the group stages, let him get back to full fitness and give it as long as possible to heal than see him rush back before it's healed and jack himself up so badly he'll miss the whole tournament.

Firstly if Rooney isn't 100% fit Ferguson won't let him play; have to remember he won't be even joining the squad in Germany until he is ready, he will stay in Manchester. Secondly, of all the high profile incidents before hand, Beckham was the quickest to recover in 8 weeks and he was rushed back and wasn't ready; which like i just said Ferguson won't let him go til he is 100% ready. And finally you just have to look at the Owen situation, people were saying he would be ready to play agaist Chelsea on 22nd March, he didnt make an appearance untill 22 April and wasnt read then and still isnt ready today (20 May), 2 months after he was supposed to comeback.

Ferguson doesnt have a choice. England doctors will assess him and along with sven its their choice.

Heard hes been walking round without the big foot protection for a while now so seems like he will be fine so not really a suprise.

Not quite true as the medical staff of Man Utd have a big a say in this as the England medical team. As there is no way they will risk Sven taking him half fit and risking a breakdown with the injury.

Technically speeking if Sven selects Rooney, then its Rooney's choice as to if he goes or not, there is nothing Ferguson or Man Utd can do. But i dont think that will be the reality, Ferguson will ask his medical staff if he is 100% fit if they say no he will tell Rooney he's not going and i would be shocked if Rooney went against Ferguson. Similar thing happened with Beckham in 2002 and Beckham went against Ferguson and that was the beginning of the end for him at Utd

Ive seen a lot of threads about how over rated Rooney is and there are plenty of players better then him but as soon as he brakes his foot its all OMG WE CANT WIN THE WORLD CUP WITH OUT HIM!!!!

Why is that? :p

Because realistically with Rooney England had a shot at winning. Without him, they don't.
