I can't really think of any other Englands players that can turn a match almost at will at times. Because he plays for Man U.
We dont have another player that is even remotely like him, and we dont have the coach to bring the best out of the other players to compensate for his loss.
With Rooney in the side, you pretty much let him run the show, without him, you have to rely on sven to come up with a game plan and actually manage the side.
which is a bad thing.

even if they have the dude asleep in an oxygene tent etc, its not gonna happen. if he goes out not ready, and has one kick of the ball, then he is out for at least 10 weeks

If we're relying on one player to win us the world cup then we have a crap team imo.
Being completely honest, even though I wish all the best to our guys, I honestly can't see us winning with or without him, so it doesn't make much difference to me if he's better or not.
It seems such a shame that the country that invented football hasn't won an international tournament since 1966

England has a fantastic team, and its in your own backyard, and apart from us Jocks, you probably love to stuff the krauts more than anyone else in the world !!

I heard Owen saying that Rooney had broken his 4th metatarsal near the end of it. Owen said that breaking your 4th isn't as bad as breaking your 5th (As Owen did) apparently.
I hope we take our time with Rooney. Bring him on as a sub for 25 minutes in the 2nd game and maybe let him play an hour from the start in the 3rd game. I don't think he'll need as much game time as everyone is predicting. I'd be more worried about Owens match fitness than Rooneys.
