I barely give a **** about this and I'm bored to tears by the constant 'debate' over Rooney. Similarly with the Evans thing, I'm just so fed up of hearing about it.
Rooney is not 'out of form', or 'transitioning to another position', his form dropped off a cliff a few seasons back and has been on a downward trajectory ever since (posted here about it frequently).
If Southgate was not the human equivalent of soggy bread, and had an ounce of courage about him; he would have stripped him of his captaincy and not picked him in the squad.
Rooney, on the last 4 seasons form, should be absolutely nowhere near the England national side, nor the Manchester United side.
The constant defence and support he receives from 'experts', ex-players/'pundits', is astonishing... until you realise they are friends and probably have many economic connections (media companies, marketing companies, agents... et cetera). Absolute dross.
You could fit what Danny Mills, Robbie Savage, and Chris '****' Sutton know about football on to a stamp and have room left over, so excuse me if I reject the notion that Rooney is a 'world class' player (or ever was), and that he should be anywhere near the first team of Manchester United, let alone FC United of Manchester.
