It is quite sad though in one respect - we'd got to basically peak diesel in terms of how good they are. IMO the best car in the new G30 LCI 5 Series range is without question the 530d* - it's smooth, refined, quick and quiet. But I'd be extremely nervous about buying one now, even though IMO no engine suits the car better.

*In the UK, Of course our European friends get the 540d, which is just as good yet even more powerful...

I agree. Same with the 4l v8 Audi diesel. Imo the best diesel car engine ever made. They had just got it refined to perfection with the twIn turbos and 48v boost system and was only available for around 18 months and now you can’t buy one anymore.
It even sounded nice

I bought my C63 in February, and I could sell it now to motorway.co.uk for about 10% more!
I know nothing about the context of your C63 but it'd be interesting to get your point of view. I know it all relates quite a bit to personal circumstances and that but interested to get your take.

My E43 has also risen by about 10%. In September it needs Insurance and MOT, and then in December it needs a major service and 4 new tyres. It'll also be out of warranty. So a lot of cost is about to land.

Have you considered selling up (presuming you have another car/need another car) and waiting out the current situation?

Well I bought the C63 thinking it would be my last petrol car, I have an i3 for the school runs etc, but it's quite tempting to sell at 10% more. However it is mint, and I still love it so I'm still in two minds at the moment. It's a wagon and there isn't really a decent estate sized EV out there that I like at the moment (I do not want the MG!).

V8 and Estate; I can see why your decision is much tougher than mine (I'd keep it :p). I expect I'll keep mine too, for the obvious reasons that every other car has gone up 10% but we'll see what the service and warranty costs quote up as

Mine has been a laugh but as everyone keeps reminding me, it ain't even a real AMG :p:cry:

This exact V10+ has gone up £10k since March. God damn.

One just like this was parked in Asda car park, me and the Mrs were admiring it saying how amazing it looked and that in many ways its as good looking, as good sounding if not better than the Ferrari and I could literally swap into one of these and have over 50k in my pocket. But looks and noise aside the conclusion was they don't drive anywhere near as good as the 458 and well its not a Ferrari and owning a prancing horse is a good feeling but you really cannot knock the value of these R8's but I think I'd still be tempted if I was going R8 to find one of the older original shape models as they are smaller on the road so easier to enjoy but more importantly you can get them with the gated manual which will seriously help tremendously with the R8's biggest issue, its damn boring to drive as it hides its speed to well and is too capable as a car to enjoy on the road.

I've also noticed that my M135i has gone up a fair bit within the last 10 months. I guess now is a good time to sell but not to buy! People are starting to drive a bit more now since lockdown is starting to ease so I guess people want to trade in?
