WBAC Values

Me and the Mrs were in the 458 yesterday and the looks on peoples faces, the excitement from kids, the car just makes people really happy and kids huge excitement.
We then said when they grow up, they will most likely be buying some electric car, even more cameras about and even stricter road rules and we thought to ourselves we have really grown up in one of the best times, to have the posters on the wall as a kid, the dream and then to make the dream a reality.

Now a kid looking at a Ferrari, Lamborghini or other similar car with a screaming V8, V10 or V12 well those kind of cars in 20 years time won't exist and the used ones that do will be crazy money and more difficult to source and buy than they are now.

Maybe the younger generation will love their electric supercars who knows, but for me they give no excitement, just a glorified milk float. :D

You feel what you feel, obviously. But have you driven a fast one? The Model 3 Performance I have literally never stops putting a smile on my face - the acceleration is utterly intoxicating!

Tyres still squeal if you're doing it right. Seriously though, like VR it's one of those things you can't appreciate until you actually experience it. All of a sudden you realise that all that faffing about compensating for the inadequacies and idiosyncracies of an ICE and gearbox got in the way of controlling something powerful.

I hated automatics for the longest time, and would only drive a manual - I wanted what I perceived to be the fine control. I dismissed hybrids and Leafs and the like as I thought it would take the 'fun' out driving. Then I test drove a Tesla and realised it's all distraction. Putting 450 bhp out from the second you put your foot down, until you reach the speed you want is exactly what a car should be like. The visceral reaction is still there, it doesn't need a clattering set of mini-explosions to feel it :)

The sense of speed and how quickly it hits you was impressive, but it just felt so gutless and dull. Part of the satisfaction of hitting the throttle in my C63 is the noise, just as much as the acceleration. The Telsa just made me go "oh cool..." but it didn't really make me grin like that sort of speed would if it was accompanied by a good soundtrack

Yeah but you just dont get the same feel or noise.

Yeah - though personally not bothered by automatic over manual but the feel and noise of for instance a torquey V6 like I've tended to drive is not an experience even a fast electric provides though personally I can find a fast electric fun as well but in other ways.

Fair enough. Some of the German marques are putting noise generators in. I suspect it's a pointless move - they sound dumb for people like me that don't need 'em, and I suspect would not get close to replicating the sound you guys crave!

Definitely not a fan of faked sound personally.

To kind of bring this back on topic - are there any competitors to WBAC? I'm still looking around on selling, and their algorithm is getting closer to what dealers will pay, still ain't there.
