WBAC Values

Not WBAC but Mannheim via autotrader - sold my Mazda 3MPS to them back in November, got £6600 (over a grand more than WBAC/etc pre-inspection values).

Been keeping an eye out when it would get relisted - appeared on both ebay/autotrader last week, listed for £9.5k and removed 2 days later from both and showing reserved on the sellers website.

Hurts a bit that I could have waited and got a lot more potentially but I was in a real hurry to sell as needed to sort 2 cars in a short time due to my wifes new job.

That’s some markup! Did it need any work at all?

They definitely refurbed all the alloys but in house that's not a high cost, looks as though they tidied up a bit of the paint work but that could be creative photography.

In my head, I imagine mannheim wanted to throw another £1-1.5k on top at auction and then the garage would want to make a chunk so a £3k markup seems right.

Doesn't mean it went for that of course, however 3MPS are listed at some silly high prices at the moment and it only had 53k miles on it / 2009 plate.

Cazoo quoted higher than WBAC for me at the mo. Obviously initial quote without seeing the car.

Anyone used them?

Tempted to get rid and clear the PCP , just seems like less hassle to use a service like this in such a situation as they arrange that and I guess give you the difference in a transfer

Sold to Cazoo was so easy, they came to collect the car, walked around it, started it up. Paid by instant bank transfer and then put it on flatbed and off they went, painless and fast, paid the outrageous price advertised so we were quids in. :)

Similar experience buying from them. They turned up on time, let us walk around the car, showed us around it etc, all very professional and polite. The car was immaculate and as described. There was a small item missing from the boot and they paid for it a few weeks later once we discovered it.

Sounds good, thanks guys.

I'm no the fence tbh. I have £19,500ish settlement figure. WBAC offering £24,750(roughly) and Cazoo £26,000.

I do feel it may be due tyres soon but otherwise it's honestly immaculate. (RS300 TROPHY Megane)

Can you sell the car without it being yours? Can you sell it to Cazoo, get the money, pay the settlement figure and be £6.5k up?

Maybe try Tom at DTPerformance also, I know he has sold a few of those Meganes so might be looking to restock.

I bought from a small dealer and there was VAT on it too - so keep in mind that £3k might include a bunch of tax that is paid gross not on profit.

Quite a drop in value just over the past month or so - £8,000 down to £7,440. I'm hoping the cars I'm looking at are dropping by a similar percentage!

Good info. I’ll try motorway. Talking to Carwow they seem to apply a reserve which I’m not sure about as that ensures a sale but she was convinced overbidders will happen.
That's essentially what Motorway does btw. Their "Estimate" is essentially the reserve.

You then go in to a daily sale for people to put in offers. Then at 3pm they email you the highest offer and you can accept or turn it down no strings attached (apparently)

We went with that offer and then it's basically handed over to the dealer from then on. They make contact, arrange collection etc.

The collection was a bit questionable but they had to use a 3rd party on this occasion as their member of staff that covers pick ups was on holiday. But this will vary dealer to dealer anyway, they will all do things their way I guess

Anyone had an experience with Motorway where the dealer has rejected the car on collection?

My daughter had sold her car but (and I accept this is her fault) hadn’t mentioned that there was an airbag warning light.

The guy came to collect but on seeing that mentioned it could be pricey to repair and walked away.

I didn’t think much of it until yesterday when she received a letter from the DVLA confirming the V5 transfer as the dealer had already registered the sale.

They’re shut today so can’t ring but wondered if anyone else had had this?

Sorry to hear that. This sounds like the fault ls with the dealer, they shouldn't register the sale until they actually collect the car surely?

They jumped the gun by the sounds of it :( hopefully they have some answers for you.

Yeah. It’s annoying.

I’ve spoken to the DVLA who’ve opened a case and say it can take 4 weeks.

Not sure what the deal is with insurance now though as obviously the cars not technically registered to her. She’s away on holiday now so hopefully it’s safe on the drive!
