I had a driver turn up the other day and asked politely if he could fill up his bottle from my outside tap. Never had it before, but hardly surprising in this heat.
Christmas time they hire temps and pay per parcel. Their pay becomes almost illegally low and are forced to work long hard hours to get a half decent days pay. It is not odd for me to get a delivery around 10pm on the run-up to Christmas!
I had similar with a Tesco delivery one Christmas a few years ago. I offered a few quid tip to the driver, but he said that he wasn't allowed to accept any tips. Never found out why. Restaurants, hairdressers, taxi drivers etc take tip no probs.
I've just watched, 'Where to invade next', Micheal Moore. In France the primary school kids get scallops & 3* meals. So after that, in this moment in time, it does seem a bit daft.
