"We are not allowed to ask for water"

Just reminded me I need to email Royal Mail again demanding to know why they've taken my super good-looking delivery guy away from me. :( Monsters. :(

Maybe because RM frown upon things like...

:D

He drives for a living, probably driving past many, many shops. It takes 5 mins to get out and buy some?

Probably not allowed too,If the van is tracked and it appears hes stopped in a place it shouldn't be and he/she is gone left the van unattended for a certain amount of time (even if its like 2 mins) it could get him in trouble.

Still if i was the delivery driver,If i needed a drink i would have one..they're like this at our place, tell us were not allowed to drink other than break times..we take drinks and have them when we want regardless,They would have to sack us all. :D

Its alright for management to bring stupid rules like, when they just sit in their nice air cooled office with one of those fancy water chillers an arms length away. :o

Not a delivery driver but I am a mobile worker. I've just been making sure I've stopped on the way in to load up and grabbing 3-4 1.5L bottles of water.

I used to do supermarket deliveries and one thing they made a fuss of in the training is never use a customers toilet, so when out in the sticks especially I had a map of places with toilets in my head at all times.

I only did that over the winter and would be so hot I wouldn't need a jacket, can't imagine it in this weather.

went to a job the other day, i was sweating and parched, I had water in the van but it was warm, when I was leaving the girl pulled a bottle of water from the fridge and handed it too me.

god it was like divine intervention, I went back to the van and sipped it until it was finished,

it cost pennys, but the gesture was lovely and really hit the spot.

simple things and all that.

I asked if he was feeling ok given the temperature, and he replied that he cant wait to get to lunch to go and buy some more water, so I offered him a couple of bottles from the fridge (we buy bottled water by the thousand on a pallet)

OP is a prepper.

He's driving a delivery van.... he can't fill up 2 * 2 liter bottles and put them in the cab?

I think perhaps he needs to man up a bit or just sort out his personal admin...

Yeah, that's going to be really refreshing after a couple of hours sat in direct sunlight in this weather

Better than ending up dehydrated

And actually having water is rather refreshing in comparison to going without, warm water isn't a bad idea at all either.

If you're that sensitive though then are you aware that cool boxes exist? Seriously I don't know how some people survive, I'm glad this generation aren't the ones who had to go and fight the Nazis...

That's why you freeze the bottles. Then you'll have a supply of ice cold water for several hours.

Amazing how basic survival instinct is now out of one's own locus of control. But in reality poor guy was probably simply ignorant of the forecasts, does anyone really look at the weather? 99% of the year I'm just prepared for cold and rain so I don't blame him.

Well done OP for noticing and offering him a drink.

I've done jobs where I'd spend the day in the car, you take water with you and soon learn where to stop for quick toilet breaks. On days like yesterday however it's easy to get caught out so good on the OP.

All this delivery driver love is making me second guess complaining about my last delivery, guy dropped my clearly heavy parcel over a 6ft fence. It's only damaged the box inside but not really on is it.

Or you could just do what normal people do and stop for water when you need some and tell your boss to go **** themselves if they say anything about it :)

Unless your house is in the middle of the desert during the apocalypse, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to look after themselves in the h2O department. More fool him, one wouldn't hike up a mountain without water, so why neglect it on a hot day involving physical activity at sea level.

Clearly the previous generation did a **** job of getting rid of them since they're now running delivery companies ;)

come off it, how hard is it for someone to stop and buy some water... or likewise go to the toilet

company is hardly run by nazis for laying down some rules to the drivers in terms of expected behavior... alternatively we'd get threads on say mumsnet with 'DPD driver took a massive **** in downstairs loo and stank the house out' :D
