Wearing suits to work

Suggest 3 M&S suits then rotate them daily. Also buy an extra pair of trousers each as the trousers always wear faster than the jacket.

I wait for the sales and buy myself a couple at a time, or when I go abroad. You can get some great cheap suits around £100 at the right time of the year. Sure off the peg ones don't really fit me that well, but I get them altered at low cost which makes them fit a little better but they ain't perfect. My expensive suits I keep for my personal functions rather than work.

I have 5 M&S suits, and 2 nice tailored ones (about £650 each) from a local suit shop near me (Demain) which is run by one of my friends.

I usually use the M&S ones for work, but if I want to impress for any reason (new customer / directors in / etc) I'll wear one of the tailored ones.

I'd go with getting one suit for now, with two sets of trousers. Then when sales come around, buy another suit on the cheap.

Stick to plain black suits and it'll be easier to find new trousers if/when they are needed.

I have 2-3 suits, reasonably cheap at 150-250 each

Thanks for the info?

The MS suits seemed quite good for the money - thankfully I don't have to wear them to work anymore, I just stumble across the hall in my boxers and slump in the chair :)

£260 is a cheap suit. I'd wear it to work every day for that price.

If you want something even cheaper but still respectable, go to Debenham's and buy one of their Jeff Banks linen suits. They're smart, they cope with everyday wear, they breath well, and they cost less than £200. I have three of them, two of which were purchased in a sale for around £60.

It sucks when you become a bigger bloke, buying off the peg means you have no choice but to get it altered no matter how good the cut! You don't have to spend that much for a decent looking suit if you fit in the average bodyshape size.

i managed to pick one up for £60 in burtons on offer

This. I got 4 pairs of trousers and 2 jackets for £200 last year.

On the otehr note, yes they do go shiney after a while, but I wear one every work day and they last for a good few years.

DO NOT WEAR AN EXPENSIVE SUIT!

Where i work it is relaxed when it comes to clothes which is a good thing. But I sometimes wish we did have dress days so I could wear my suit as I like a suit, just never get the chance to wear one. I know if I wore one to the office I would stick out and would probably get slated for it!
