if spurs cant put away simple opportunities like the several they created they deserve to be bottom. they should have scored 3 or 4 goals today

oops got yellow carded for inappropriate language, although i dont think the language was harsh enough when it comes to darren bents inadequate ability to score from one yard

Alomst every time i see him play he is blazing it wide or scuffing a shot, I seem to rememember a match against arsenal where he was played clean through and put it so far wide it almost went out for a throw in.

After yet another shocking display with what can only be described as an impressive amount of inadequacy, I've finally lost patience with Darren Bent. Missing a gaping net from 3 yards just topped it off.
He can't find a team mate, he can't head, he can't put himself about, he can't do much at all really. Everytime it's a 50/50 he loses 100% of the time. A defender goes anywhere near him and he WILL lose the ball, either by falling over or just simply surrendering it. Absolutely gutless player.... pathetic!

Another great win for the Villa, once again, we are picking up points where we previously would have settled for a draw.
It's hard to believe it's now mid/late January, and we are just 3 points off the top, and only 2 points behind a Liverpool side, hailed as having their best season in almost 2 decades - you just can't complain as a Villa fan right now.
In terms of players in, we still desperately need 2 or 3 players I believe, I'd like to see another creative midfielder, and another "different" striker, one offering a physical preference perhaps - I would probably be quite happy to see us sign Darren Bent, for a reasonable fee - I think if he changes his environment, and MON puts his arm around him, there's no reason why he can't be useful.
We've got into a fantastic position, and it would be a real crime if MON doesn't spend, as Randy will no doubt be willing to finance purchases.

You need a genuine quality replacement/partner for Laursen IMO. The two cloggers Villa have at the back when Laursen is out just aren't good enough to pair each other. He can carry them through games when he's fit but it looks like the matches he'll be able to play will get less and less.
O'Neill seems to play Reo Coker right back, Luke Young LB? When Shory is sat on the bench..I don't understand.
Cueller was a fantastic player for Rangers, not sure how he's doing at Villa. Never rated Knight.
He's only missed a couple of games in two seasons, which isn't at all bad considering his previous history.
Personally, I like Curtis Davies, he's definitely not going to being the ball out of defence, but is committed and good in the air. The same could be said of Ugly Betty (Cuellar) - I like what I've seen of him, he does have a tendancy to give away some unneccessary fouls, but is uncompromising, and a good purchase.
NRC is playing at right back due to the poor form of Shorey on the left, meaning Luke Young have to cover there until Freddy Bouma comes back. Our defence is fairly sound - perhaps a utility man might be a good option, but I'm happy with it.
I do think selling Cahill last season was a bit of a mistake, as he was looking like he might be very promising.
He definitely played all 38 last season (fantastically I might add!) and I think he's missed only 2 or 3 max this season.
