Weekend Football; 17-19th January - *SPOILERS*

I'm a Man Utd fan and I LOVE Phil Thompson, it's so nice to see someone openly wear their heart on their sleeves like he does, he's brilliant and if I had to go drinking with any of them Phil would be my second choice, only behind Sir Jeff of Stellingshire.

As for the Man Utd game, it was hard work, we played well in periods with Anderson, Fletcher and Tevez playing very well in the first half, only the latter working reliably hard in the second. Vidic was reliable as ever. Embarassing performance from Berbatov though, his worst yet, and even the commentator on Match of the Day (which was heavily cut) commented on how inaffectual and useless he was. 1 out of 10 and that's only because he scored.

We desperately need Rooney back.

Aye then its **** fuuny and I agree he's a legend old Phil, not afraid to tell it how it is unlike Nicholas, Merson and Le Tiss

Reportedly our team for tonight:
----------Reina
Carra--Hyypia-Skrtel--Aurelio
Kuyt--Gerrard-Alonso--Riera
-------Torres-Keane

Presuming Agger and Arbeloa are still injured then the team has more or less picked itself.

I can't see where the goals are going to come from for Everton, the very best I could hope for is a draw but that's unlikely. Park the bus Moyes, park a big blue bus across the pitch. ;)

WHats changed so drastically since you got back to form? INjuries, did Bassong get injured? You were playing some even decent footie back before xmas but of late seem to being beaten a lot.

Problem is that Martins is injured. Here is our record with and without Martins:

With: 18 points in 12 games, 1.5 points/game.
Without: 5 points in 10 games, 0.5 points/game.

He is our only player that can score outside the box and the only player who can create his own chances, Owen can only finish chances but we aren't creating anything at the moment so he looks rubbish.

We also miss Barton, when he gets fit our form will improve no doubt.

Ah, I hadn't realised he missed so much, he was injured early on wasn't he, but was out recently again? Frankly I think he's blooming great, he misses some chances, who doesn't but when you're attacking you need him, great power, inteligent runner. The difference between attacking with one slow lazy twit striker and one great runner, and two great runners pulling the defence all over the shop leaving gapping holes for others to run into is immense.

Is Gutierez still playing, playing well? As he was fantastic early season, got injured, you had a horrible run, then he came back and boom, different team. Brilliant direct hard working and talented and he made all the difference aswell. ASsuming he's still good, lack of newcastle games I've seen on streams lately, he's probably buy of the season 2.5mil, and got 15mil(there abouts?) for Milner who while ok isn't nearly as effective. Of all the things for keegan to get miffed about selling Milner for huge money and getting a better replacement in wasn't one of them IMHO :p

When's Martins due back? I think offensively Newcastle have the quality to stay up for sure when everyones fit. This year though its silly how close it is.

Make or break game for Keane tonight. We've changed our formation to accommodate both him and Torres so he can have no complaints if he has another stinker and gets dropped especially considering it's the derby and we have the chance to recapture top spot.

Gutierrez is probably most fans favourite player this season, he has been stuggling with injuries lately though as so hasn't been at his best. His form looks even worse because those around him are playing ****, i.e. strikers not finishing his crosses etc.

The best thing about him is his work-rate which hasn't decreased and so is always up there as one of our better players when we play.

Martins is due back about Feb 22nd according to PhysioRoom I think, but Owen and Shearer had the same operation by the same surgeon and came back much quick, so who knows. :p

Anderson was terrible in the first half. All he did was give the ball away.
Vidic defended well but had little to do in this respect. His passing throughout was also very very poor.
As for Berba, I thought he did ok for the most part. He linked up well just drifted out of the game in the 2nd half.
He certainly didn't' play worst than Tevez, who I'm less and less bothered about losing every game I see.

don't know why, I thought Guti was the bee's knee's at the start of the season, now he's just a attacking version of Oliver Bernard, hard working , great squad player, nothing special

We ARE missing Oba though, although he can be absent for the majority of games he is the player who needs no-one else in the team for him to create. This is why owen is useless for us, not his fault but unless he has the service he is garbage, oba is just a "wind up and watch him go" sort of player

Oba will be the man to keep us up if he is in form
