Weekend Football; 23-25th January - *SPOiLERS*

Liverpool of late seem to be on auto-pilot, no attacking passes or through balls, no one making runs and it seems to be pass, pass and pass. No one carrying the ball other than Torres and Gerrard. Shame.
 
The crosses in from the wings have been extremely lacking, and Kuyt and Babel have both been pretty poor on the sides (god knows how many years now I have been saying that we need to buy some decent wingers). The goal really seemed to knock the wind out of our sails and the quality of our passing and attacking play noticeably deterioated in the 2nd half of the first 45.
 
Any team that sits back and defends as a team can beat us if they've got a few quick players on the pitch. We just pass, pass and pass and when we do eventually get a cross in no one bothers to attack the box. No point using wingers with the style of football we play. Wonder if Kuyt will actually get taken off today?

Pretty spot on analysis.
 
Our style of football is perfect against teams that play attacking football so it's no surprise Benitez did so well in Spain where defence is an afterthought. We rely heavily on teams leaving space at the back and making mistakes and if that doesn't happen we struggle to create anything. We'll always depend on individual magic from Torres and Gerrard unless Benitez has a rethink and changes the way he approaches defensive teams.
 
This is an awful game.

Everton made the mistake of just humping it forward after they scored, not bothering to try and keep possession, and as such, have conceded.
Everton will be roundly beaten now.
