Weekend Football **SPOILERS** 14-16 March

I thought Barry's contract expired this summer?

Will go have a look, have been wrong before. :D

-Edit-

It appears you're right, Baz. We'll probably still offer £18m for him with a year left on his contract...

Where will Benitez find room for him in the best central midfield in modern football today? :p

Or would he play on the left wing? I don't think you need him with the quality of Mascherano and Alonso in the middle. It's a nice combination with Gerrard ahead of them and then Torres up front alone.

That's a difficult question because of how good our central midfield is :p

You did sort of answer it though. With Gerrard playing further forward, we're then only left with Masch and Alonso (if Lucas was to go (which i doubt)) so having Barry as well is hardly ott.

And the Villa bubble has officially burst.

already burst a couple of 3 games back, as much as some would like to see Everton or Villa claim that fourth spot i think it would be depressing watching them get battered in the CL - it's one thing to qualify but completely different to be even half competitive....which they wouldn't be.

well at least Everton are in the race still, with their slide and away fixtures to Anfield and OT, Villa are pushing **** uphill all the way home.

King/Woodgate looked immense today, as did Lennon.....icing on the cake was watching Bentleys face on the bench ....ALL DAY LONG! :p

We're not the only team who has to play them.. We've got Everton at home soon as well.

I don't get all the Villa battering, I really don't. We exceeded our own expectations by sitting high up in the table, and rode our luck on several occasions. Swings and roundabouts if you ask me. I'd be content with top 5, and I said that all season, but as long as we get European football next season, then our objective is complete. Arsenal had a lot of injuries and will come good in the end, we just sat there taking advantage and now it's going against us.

I realise it's only all of two points separating them, but it's starting to look like the battle is from 12th downwards now.
