Weekend Football *Spoilers* inc Carling Cup Final 28/2 - 1/3

What I'm saying is that the Liverpool fans that we hear about, and in turn base our opinions on, don't support Rafa.

Now I might not know as much about Liverpool as I do a few other clubs, but I know that Rafa is doing well at Liverpool. Rafa has turned Liverpool in to a good League Club, a European force and a knockout expert.

I can't see what he's doing wrong.
Other then going mad and abusing Sir Alex :D

Ahh, I see what you mean. I support Rafa as our current manager, although at times he does things which infuriate me (then again I am sure that armchair managers always rant and rave about the managerial decisions of the manager of their team from time to time) , but he is our current manager so he gets my support. We could do a lot worse to be honest, but as they say in football circles, fans are fickle and have selective memories.

Is he the man to take us to the kinds of levels of the current Utd? That I dont know, time will tell on that one.

Tombstone = nail hit on the head. Thats the attitude more fans should take.

You can do a hell of a lot worse then Rafa, be happy he's doing well in Europe, and you're not doing too badly in the League.

Fans are indeed fickle, and have selective memories when it comes to these things.

A sensible Liverpool fan :) whatever next ;)

Another lucky season for Ferguson then? Because the rest of the top 4 have been ****.

Who do you actually rate as a manager in world football? Other than Ferguson of course.

Theres only a handful, dont forget just because their are "a lot" of managers out there, doesnt mean they are any good.
You dont need to spend the most money to win the league (it helps) you just need to be a good manger and the fact is only a handful get the top jobs and succeed.
You only have to look at the sides that have pushed United throughout the premiership years, Wenger, Ranieri, Maureen, even Houlier's side used to beat us on a regular basis, to see that there are very few good managers out there.

Ferguson makes some spectacularly bad team selections and tactical **** ups, but nobody seems to punish him for it.

Man Utd: Foster, O'Shea, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra, Ronaldo, Scholes, Gibson, Nani, Tevez, Welbeck.
Subs: Kuszczak, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Vidic, Possebon, Eckersley.

Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Jenas, Zokora, Modric, Bent, Pavlyuchenko.
Subs: Alnwick, Bale, Bentley, Huddlestone, Gunter, Taarabt, O'Hara.

Should be a good game.

Couldn't disagree with you more. He hasn't made a lot, you could count his great buys on one hand, Torres, Mascherano, Alonso and Reina. As for not having the money to buy a good player straight away, also nonsense. Instead of buying one good expensive player he bought 2 or 3 very average players who were only sold on a season later at almost zero profit, or in some cases, loss. Some of Benitez' signings really make me question the ability of his scouts or his perception of what good play is (something which his tactical choices further strengthen my beliefs).
He's also bought Skrtel, Agger, Riera and Benayoun, and other players who have since left the club after doing a great job like Crouch, Sissoko and Garcia. The reason why he couldn't buy 1 top player and bought 3 cheaper players is because to raise the money he had to sell 3-4 players. So unless we were going to have a squad of 12 players he didn't really have much choice.

As for making zero profit or in some cases a loss. Yes some players have made a loss (same with every manager) but far more have been sold for a decent profit.

Im not sure if you're as clueless as you're making out regarding some parts of your post our a choosing to ignore things to make an arguement.

Benitez has not been able to decide on how the money is spent at Liverpool; every man and his dog knows that Benitez didn't want to spend £20m on Keane yet you keep going on about that.

As for Skrtel playing RB, that's because all our rb's are injured.

With Ronaldo on the right it will be a good test for Assou-Ekotto who has looked a different player at LB so far this season.

Scholes is a brilliant passer of the ball, spurs really need to stop him from having time on the ball - good strike from gibson there :)
