Weekend Football Thread - 15/8 to 17/8 *spoilers*

Impressive demolition job by Arsenal..caught the highlights last night on sky sports and have to say i was pretty gob smacked as i didnt think Everton were going to roll over that easily.

But i iz a happy man although dont want to get too carried away as its only the first game of the season..still got a long way to go.

dont hope too much, you should be lucky that owen makes 10-15 appearancesnever mind 10-15 goals a season. He only scores tap-ins anyway, and thats not very often :D

You joke, I'm not pinning hopes on Owen getting much at all this year, I think he's just there so we dont end up playing O'Shea or Van der Sar up front if Rooney gets injured.

Come on, it wouldn't be an opening day of the season without some fan rashly saying it is their year based on one performance! Which Arsenal fan is going to step up? ;)

PS. If Arsenal win on Saturday I will officially knee-jerk the title to us.
\o/

On a serious note though, as pleasing as it was to watch us take our chances and actually shoot from range, Everton's defending was dire. Two terribly-defended free kicks that reminded me of how we can defend them at times, and two instances of horrifically lazy ball-watching (Fabregas' second and Eduardo's).

Great to see the goal disallowed for Palace :)
I've just watched that and Warnock's interview. How does that man manage to be so dislikeable that he makes a perfectly fair and legitimate injustice seem worthwhile purely for the fact that it's against him?

Worth mentioning that in recent years Arsenal have started the season like a train a couple of times (leading the way during early months), a couple of years back Fabregas was scoring nearly every week at the start of the season. So I'm certainly not going to be counting any chickens yet. Things should be clearer after we've visited Manchester twice over the next month.

I hate Warnock ( Sheffield Wednesday fan ) but he's not that bad, I've met him at the train station once, and he's a nice guy ! He's nothing like he comes across on the pitch.

I just think it was a shocking decision not to give that goal. Can't see any reason why it wasn't given. FA to charge Warnock over it though :p

Please dont tell me this means Evans and Brown in central defence.:(:(:(:(:(

Just play 2 full backs and 6 midfielders, honestly, it will work better.
