Villa are probably better defensively, largely due to fitness, they had better players in Laursen last year, which showed in the first half of the season. This year, the insistance on playing Heskey which screws with Gabbys and Youngs form they aren't nearly as good in attack.
Spurs are good, just not as good as they looked yesterday, Defoe had a stormer and would have probably put a couple past anyone, but most of his chances would have been very easy to defend and he shouldn't have had a look in for most of his goals.
Last year was so full of defensive minded crap, this year top to bottom the leagues more attacking. Even Bolton are trying to play more attacking football, they just happen to be crap at it, which leaves their fairly poor defense even more vunerable. I won't be remotely surprised if the title winner scores more than ever before, likewise the top half in general should score more than the top half of any previous year.
I'm not honestly sure if we've had more bigger wins than any previous year, but it sure seems that way so far, the amount of 4/5/6 goal wins this year has been rather ridiculous considering we're not half way through yet.
Honestly this season we're at the point where scoring less than 4 against Blackburn seems almost a poor game, which is also true of maybe Hull, Burnley(away), Wolves and wigan and probably Pompie.
Though that also seems to mean, the more crappy games this year are still often full of goals, so the league is far more attacking and more exciting.
For me Spurs have the best shot at 4th right now, City would have a very good shot if Hughes manages to drop SWP for, I dunno, a footballer and starts Ireland ahead of Barry in general, though Barry on the wing instead of SWP is probably a good option. AT the minute City aren't clicking, if they do they have the team to go 4th. I just can't see Liverpool in the hunt at all right now.
