Weekend Football Thread 23-26 *spoilers*

Until Wenger sorts out that midfield i am over giving my time and money watching this ****, that midfield of useless ****** couldn't hold off a fat kid on his way to Greggs.

We're going to win some silverware this year??? uhhhh huh.

Yet predicted a Utd win in the prediction league :p

Of course people who support a team are more likely to predict a win no matter how unlikely. Consdiring we are the champions and have been for the past 3 years it was not totally unlikely United could win.

Hindsight is a wonder tool, Utd were poor today granted, but you beat us last year twice and won nothing. Liverpool have major problems, United have problems of our own but we are not in as desparate situation considering our recent domiance.

Still Liverpool played better than United and deserved the victory.

Why would you predict a win if you expect to lose?

Despite what was said in threads pre-match, it's pretty clear that most Utd fans expected a win which is what YSMN said.

Most Utd fans I spoke to pre-match were confident of giving us a 'spanking' etc.

Our team is worse than last year and yet we still beat them. I would say Utd need to have a long hard look at replacements in Jan

Still 4 points ahead of you, in a better position in the Champs league, £80million somewhere. Last time you won the league?

Nah I think you should be more worried about your own team than ours.

Funny thing about todays game was that up until the goal, Liverpool looked whack out of confidence. Torres screwed one across the face of goal and Kuyt tried to play the ball back from 7 yards out. A few weeks ago, You would say that one of those would be a cert. I really thought that if we scored first then Liverpool would have crumbled. But it was never meant to be when you have Mongo Carrick in your side.

What a fantastic weekend for us :D MU drop 3, Spurts drop 3, Arsenal drop 2, Lamps scores, Anelka smiles and JC is back.

Honestly, if there wasn't the african nations cup, I'd assume the title was going to Chelsea already to be honest, ok maybe a touch early but the other "top 3" have so many issues. But when Chelsea lose, iirc, Drogba, Kalou, Essien, Mikel for that long, well thats two of the best players, and Chelsea certainly massively missed both Drogba and Essien as they were injured last year, and the cover for both of them. Any other injuries that occur during that time could cause a heck of a lot of lost points in that time.

Still think Arsenal have a more than capable squad for winning the title, and the champs league, however if we keep starting Song/Diaby and Denilson when he's back, over Rosicky, Eduardo, Bendtner, Vela, and others for no apparent reason(as we did last year) I can't see it. We've now played 2 against the top half, lost both, played 7 against the bottom half, won 5 and drawn 1, when tbh, West Ham played (for the final 35-40mins) like a top half team of last year. Well, as we play more top half teams we'll drop back if we keep playing as pathetically in midfield as we did today.

I agree, felt that myself. If Utd had opened the scoring then we would have not had enough spark to come back. Kuyt had a stinker for me, really poor first touch and should have scored in the first half. Of course, he runs around loads which endears him to the fans.

To be fair to Kuyt, the chance you're talking about wasn't straight forward. Yes, he could and possibly should have scored but the pass to him from Lucas was behind him and it got stuck under his feet.
You have a point there ;)

Even if we spend all the £80 million its unlikely we can replace Ronaldo.

If one of our owners is to be believed, that money may have already gone elsewhere.

Fortunately for Utd fans, our owners tell barefaced lies.

No but looking at todays squad, you could probably buy better Dm, CM, left and right wing, right back and be a far better team than todays was. You might not be able to get a single player whose better than Ronaldo, forget Ronaldo though, you can improve fairly easily on a good 6 positions in the squad.

Giggs, as he was last year but for the blind idiots, a fantastic player on his day, but with "his day" coming few and far between. Till Feb last year he was awful, had 2 great months and sporadically good till the end of the season. This year he's had 2-3 awesome performances, and some crap ones like today. Theres a heck of a lot of room for improvement in that squad.

But I'll again say it Berbatov is crying out for a Owen type to start regularly infront of him, why he's a big man up on his own I'll never know. LIkewise Rooney's single sustained unbeatable form long run of games, came at left wing. Frankly as today showed, his attempted throughballs in behind were poor as anything. His passings never been his strength, his best strenght is probably very powerful running, which from the wing he gets to do constantly, he's actually got a fantastic delivery from the wing, again something he doesn't use as a striker, and well, he's never been prolific, he played a LOT on the wing last year and still got the same kind of goals he usually got.

Considering he was so consistant there, and very inconsistant as a striker who doesn't work well as a front two with Berb's, its madness to play him there.

, he's never been prolific, he played a LOT on the wing last year and still got the same kind of goals he usually got.

Why do you keep saying this?

He consistently outscores most players in the league, and more often than not the likes of Drogba, Anelka, Adebarndoor and others.
He also gets a similar if not higher amounts of assists than these players, as well as being out of action for long periods through injury.

He sucks balls on the left wing, he plays well in a forward three, when given a free role, but his worst games are when he is stuck out on the left.
