This isn't just 'cos I'm bias, but I would rather have Oakwell than one of these new grounds.
Been to Doncaster and Leicester's new stadiums this year and they're horrid, no character to them at all. They could be the same stadium for all I knew just different colour seats.
I love old grounds they have history and feel special.
I think the new Arsenal stadium looks amazing, but I've yet to watch a game there.
Leicesters ground has no soul, it's modern, you're far away from the pitch, Doncasters is much the same, grounds need character and history, update don't rebuild them entirely.
Don't get me wrong, I think the Emirates is the best stadium in the country (I've been a few times). Even though it's a new ground it has it's own character already. The way the top tiers seating dips up and down like a wave looks awesome, it has it's own class.
They must have designed it to reflect the way the team play on the pitch
I can understand why Leicester got rid of theirs though, Filbert street was a nightmare. I remember sitting behind a pillar in the away end the day we got relegated from the Premiership. What's ridiculous though is that it's smack bang in the middle of a retail park, with loads of parking spaces, but they clamp you if they see a football shirt/scarf... idiotic if you ask me.
Never been to it (not cool enough to be an away fan), but I've never heard good things about Leicester's new ground. City fans I know said it was one of the worst in the Championship, just completely lacking in soul.
