Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 22nd-24th

I've got a couple of friends who are season ticket holders at WHL and whenever your rivalry with Arsenal gets brought up in the media, they're always banging on about how if you asked any season ticket holder at WHL who their biggest rivals are, they'd say Chelsea.
Possibly the other way around, Chelsea view us as the biggest derby? Even their manager thinks so http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ays-new-Ckhelsea-boss-Ancelotti.html?ITO=1490

Spurs biggest rivals are Arsenal, then Chelsea.

Most london clubs hate Spurs the most though I think? Arsenal's biggest london rivals are Spurs but recently I think they'd probably view Man Utd as the one game of the season they'd most like to win?? Maybe not the older fans but certainly the younger 'premiership' fans.

like i said it might be different with some fans but the vast majority see our biggest rivals as arsenal

after Ancelotti's comments about the real chelsea derby being with spurs and not fulham a lot of threads popped up on most of the spurs forums im a member of and almost everyone who posted said they hate arsenal more with chelsea a close 2nd

Yep.

Arsenal
Chelsea
Fulham
West Ham

For me.

Have never seen West Ham as a threat really.

Horrible dive from Hibbert, I know things aren't going their way but he was looking for it from miles off and the ref is a damn disgrace for giving the penalty, hilariously poor penalty from Saha though. Burnley don't deserve to be behind at all, let alone from a ridiculous penalty decision, some ref's are truly useless.

It was quite a blatant dive! Don't like to see that from Everton! :(

Although Saha should have buried it!

Why would we see a smaller club who are further away and a lot less successful as bigger rivals?

Up until just recently Chelsea weren't really a threat to anyone...

I have no idea and if it wasn't obvious enough, the last post was a joke :)

Just had a quick google and it would appear the Chelsea/Spurs rivalry is linked back to a game in 1975 where Chelsea got relegated and also lots of trouble between the clubs' 'firms'.

I didn't think you were being serious calling us part-timers you n00b :p :D

Nobody is saying there's no rivallry between us and Chelsea, there's loads but Arsenal will always be the bigger fish for us yids.

Yeah, the fact he couldn't easily see Diaby, the fact it had to get ahead of the defender and not get to close to the keeper, had to be perfectly weighted to get infront of Diaby at the right time, easy, he did nothing at all. He beat his man and literally couldn't have crossed it better but could easily, as those crosses so often are, could have been under/over hit or put close to the keeper.

They were both tapins, he had no one around him for either, both greatly weighted balls, that he just had to put in the net, they weren't literally 1 inch off the line, but those are incredibly easy chances. I said he did fine, he's ok going forwards. If you remember I was the first person to point out, years ago, he's only good going forwards while everyone else is saying "look its the new Vieira". Problem being we have better AMC's, and he's useless defensively, what does he offer?

Gallas was maybe lucky to be on the pitch, replay didnt' show close enough to see if he took Utaka down. Pompie will feel peeve'd he scored, as would I with the shoe on the other foot.

If anything Eboues pass was a little under weighted imo and only just got to Diaby in time, i can't remember who was tracking back but if they had a little more faith they would have intercepted it - only someone as **** as Eboue could almost **** that easy pass up.

Diaby is more than ok going forward, talent wise he is right up there with our best ....+ he has never had in uninterrupted season with his many niggling injuries. What does he offer??? You mean apart from the fact that he can go past defenders like they're standing still and has a great eye for goal .......Song/Denilson can only dream of having Diaby's skill.

You're truly the most awful Arsenal supporter, words can't describe your drivel.

Anyone know what time the Barcelona v Bilbao game kicks off at tonight? I'm trying to work out what the time time difference is between England and Spain but it's too confusing what with british summer time and all that crap.

Yet another complete post of crap ignoring everything I said to make up his own idea's of what I said.

I said what does he offer defensively the first time, and he's no where near Arshavin, Fabregas, Rosicky, Nasri, RVP, Eduardo's level, so other than as back up to our backup, where does he fit in going fowards. He was played as our second holding midfielder yesterday but never helped in any way defensively while Fabregas was playing deeper than he really needs to for yet another game, he's great at it simply because he's a great footballer, but he's our best player and should be working in his best role.

Considering for Diaby to get forward as much as he did, Fabregas had to stay back more than he should, thats a trade off that well, worked against Pompie, and Fenebache, and not really any single time inbetween.

He can't go past defenders like they are standing still, he can go past Mullins like he's not even a footballer, which, lets be honest, he's not anymore.

How often does Diaby play like that, once in a rare while, coinciding with playing woefully poor teams. Woo, he's an ok player offensively, I'll again point out for YEARS that I've been saying he could make a great attacking player, but offers nothing defensively while much of the world and this forum, have said he's going to be the answer to our holding midfield problems. WHen I've said, for years, that he worked on the wing because he's a great dribbler I was laughed out of thread after thread.

Yet now, misqouting and misrepresenting what I said you've decided to throw back what I've been saying for the best part of 3 years in my face like you just came up with it.

Do one.

As I've said, he's played as a DM, he's damn awful at it, he's an ok offensive player, no more than ok, his strength is running with the ball, something no one on these boards agreed with 2 years ago when I said it, but we have better players in every offensive position, infact we pretty much have 2 better players in all offensive positions.

SO tell me, is Diaby SO good we should play Fab as a DM so Diaby can play the forward role? Really? Or do you think he's an ok player who did ok against a terrible side and shouldn't start when our full first team is trying to win big games.

Gj burnley now i can taunt the scousers at work in the morning :D

Hopefully they stick with their game. WHich is playing good football, passing, not panicking and letting their front players get creative and score goals.

Hull were doing great when they just played to win games, they turned around after a couple of poor results made the manager to a u-turn, they started playing to not lose, and by doing so, lost loads and loads of games. Villa did the same, they hit 4th, panicked, played to hold on to 4th by playing more physically and changing the team, in doing so, sucked hard.

If Burnley hit a couple bad results and panick, they are screwed, if they just keep playing their game they'll get back to winning and I think could finish midtable-ish.

Great result, got a goal they deserved, couple of bits of holding on and backs to the wall, held on.

I think thats the other thing, teams that come up willing to play football catch teams unawares as people assume they'll sit back and pray not to lose people play weakened teams and too many attacking players which they can take advantage of.
