Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 22nd-24th

Any body just heard the story about Callum Davenport and his mother getting stabbed last night? Geoff just broke it on Soccer Saturday. Bloody crazy.
 
Nice Arsenal up 2-0 already...Portsmouth odds on faves to be relegated from what ive been hearing:p.

But hopefully we will bag 5 or more goals...nice start to the season so far.
 
Hmm, Arsenal taking their chances again. We always do it in patches. I have a dubious feeling about next Saturday. :/

Edit - should be much more. Starting to become a little casual in front of goal eh..

Diaby again, but Eduardo did all the work for the first, Eboue did EVERYTHING for the second. Diaby is one lucky SOB, two utter tap in's but brilliant build up/assist work. Eboue almost set up another again, from right back and is playing superbly with a couple great tackles and interceptions.

Again Fabregas is making key interceptions and tracking the midfield runs. Diaby isn't remotely involved defensively and is making runs into the box which is what we need of Fabregas. We need one "DM" and two attacking midfielders making runs, because that second person making runs deep into the box, and specifically LATE into the box is how Diaby was so unmarked for the first.

Fantastic football so far, but I'll be honest, Pompie are woeful, Kanu is, well hasn't been a footballer for 5 years, and Mullins, despite a brilliant year for West Ham 2/3 years ago, was woeful when he moved to Pompie last year and is still bad, maybe even worse.

I'm still very worried by the isolation to the front men when we're under pressure and the whole midfield trio are deep in our half, and we've yet to play a well, any kind of midfield this year and things will change significantly when we do. But Arshavin, Fabregas, RVP, Eduardo are simply fantastic players, with IMHO all four amongst the top ten attacking players in the league.


EDIT:- LOL< I know diaby looks good, he just walked through Mullins and , is that Diop? Their central midfield is just non existant all our team is strolling through there, Diaby did a trick to get around Mullins but honestly theres no need at all.

If Wigan can carry this on for the next 60mins + 12mins Fergie's added time they should easily get at least a point. Dominating possession against United.

I put in the predictions league, if the Pompie team stays as is, they will go down, they've been heading that way for a while. If they get a new owner and lots of money, a decent DM, defender or two and a striker and they'll be very different. Diarra was the difference the year before last season for a long while, he was their best player by a mile.

Pompie, Hull and Blackburn I think I went for, first two being truly awful so far. They need better players as fast as possible or they're gone.


EDIT:- YAY, Diaby, tallest guy back for the corner, standing by Kaboul, ignores him when he runs, goal. He really is awful with no awareness in positioning or defense, horrible tackler, he may aswell be outfield for corners for all the help he is.

it's just not working in midfield at all. There is nobody dictating the flow of play for us
 
started well, now we're crap again. Getting good practice at watching the opposition have the ball though. Be nice if they could at least try.
